You are entitled to your opinion.

I think the value of this thread is that it exposes the falsehoods propagated by Mormons, whether the Mormons are sincere or not.

Mormons mislead others when they claim to hold common Christian beliefs, even if they are doing so in ignorance.

This particular convert from Mormonism considers his previous statements to be lies.

I agree, but if you were lied to, isn’t your sin confined to sloth in not judging the spirit to see if it came from God? Any way, the only unforgivable sin is the sin against the Holy Ghost, impenitence.

So, I guess we should call all the Protestants who subscribe to beliefs like sola scriptura on this board liars, too? I’m sorry, I am just not seeing the “value” here in the way this article was presented and written.

The writer is calling himself a liar.

I agree that if he spoke in ignorance then they weren’t technically lies, but he knows his own heart.

More important to me is the explanation of Mormon beliefs, which clearly contradict Nicene Christianity.

He does admit that he didn’t tell the whole truth about a couple of Mormon beliefs in #3 and #8.

I consider that to be deceptive, but technically, it’s not lying.

Yeah, I just think there are plenty of better, well-written resources discussing Mormon belief. And as others pointed out, what he believes to be “true” now does not totally jive with Catholic beliefs, so it just isn’t that helpful if you’re Catholic. Being an editor, I find the style of writing distasteful and would not accept it for publication if it were me. But anyway, I guess I’ve expressed my opinion now, so I’ll step out. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been dealing with a slew of anti-Catholic material written in a similar tone this week. Just have very low tolerance lately for this kind of writing right now!

I think he made some good points and I viewed it as a provocative conversation starter.
