Terri Schiavo's Estranged Husband Marries Longtime Girlfriend

Not sure why anyone is surprised. It was widely discussed / speculated at the time that Schiavo wanted to “accommodate his wife’s right-to-die” so that he would be free to marry his mistress without having to go through a divorce from Terri.

What was “shocking” to me at the time of the public outcry surrounding Terri’s death that the Catholic Church went along with Michael’s pursuit of the “right to die” issue.

Care to elaborate? From daily coverage on Relevant Radio to supportive statements from no less than John Paul II to the constant support of a catholic brother (i.e. religious) to the parents the church was staunchly consistent in her pro-life morality.

If you are referring to the priest / chaplain who testified for Michael in the initial case, I too wonder what became of him. But one priest does NOT speak for the whole Church!

The timing of this marriage sure smells of something rotten.

But let’s remember that Michael Schiavo is not Satan, just a fallen human being like each of us. The rhetoric here starts to fall short of what Christ would have of us. We aren’t the final judge. Let’s do OUR job.
