Terrified of Mary!! Never. After my three year old brother died, the night of his funeral, she visited my sister and I. You can laugh if you want to, but this is what happened.
I was six, and my sister seven. We were in our room in our bunk beds feeling quite sad about our brother, and we were worried about who would be with him and tuck in in at night. Just feeling so sad.
All of a sudden, I could smell flowers in the room and I asked my sister do you smell something and she said it smelled like roses. There was a light in the doorway, and all of a sudden we could see the outline of a lady. Very beautiful and she was smiling at us.
We could hear her say words, but her mouth did not move.
She said to not worry, that she was there and she would be watching over him, and he was waiting for us to come someday.
Then she disappeared, and we both pulled the covers over our head and did not say a word to each other.
We did not bring this up until we were much, much older. My sister asked if I remembered what happen the night of our brother’s funeral, and we both said the same exact words she said. Did it really happen? I really think it did.
Fantastic! Praise God! Do you remember any more details? Did you get a good look at her? I love these stories. 🙂

As Dorothy said, I believe so as well! Excellent post…extraordinary encounter!

Peace, Mark

Mother Mary

I love you! Thank you for everything you do for me.
Sorry for having ignored you for so many years.

I’m a cradle Catholic, and NO, I’m not nor ever have been afraid of our Holy Mother. I think that throughout history many people may have been frightened through the astonishment of seeing Mary, not of Mary herself. Remember, even Mary herself was frightened when visited and told of her mission to bear the son of God.
I don’t know, but I think that if I were visited by something that spiritually enormous as seeing our Holy Mother, I’d be scared too at first. I’m in my 60s and the Church was less informative in those days, and many people were afraid of many facets of the Church that were handed down through ignorance. Jesus loved his mother, so we should too.

I watched a video of a priest who was badly hurt in a car accident. He said he went to stand before the Lord and knew he should go to hell when Jesus questioned him about his life. Mary was there and she asked Jesus to let him come back and live, which He did. The priest has a very devout devotion to Mary now and says Jesus can never say no to His mother.

That was amazing! youtube.com/watch?v=9VFE8ToVatI

Being a cradle Catholic, in my younger days (pre-teen) I don’t think I have every been afraid of a visit from our Blessed Mother. There are times when I have been afraid of my own Mum (only for a moment) but I have never thought of our Blessed Mother as anything but immensely loving and gentle. Now that I am older, I have to honestly say that I would probably be terrified of any kind of vision. However, I expect one never feels or acts the way they think they would when one of these occurrences does take place.
