I have read some of the writings of Tertullian and know that he fell away from the Church. In regards to his writings, would they still be considered as important even though he fell away from the Church?

Yes!!!

But one needs to be mindful that his later writings were done during a period when was heading in the wrong direction.

Yes, and same goes for Origen. Both were very gifted, and they can be gleaned from. As I’ve heard it said, Tertullian was to the Latins what Origen was to the Greeks. I always thought how it would have great if they would have debated eachother!
