The above link discusses the Mega Abortion Clinic being established in Houston, TX. And Texas is about to set the record for a Mega weather event in having the most days ever recorded over 100 degrees with $52B in losses, and counting.

Is GOD’s being “…slow to anger…” finally expiring?

Why doesn’t He just destroy the clinic? A devastating heatwave seems unnecessary - like trying to remove an infected tooth with a shotgun.

After the Senator Jon Kyl statement about Planned Parenthood (the one that wasn’t mean to be taken as a factual statement) it was pointed out that Planned Parenthood’s Annual Reports are online and the 2008-2009 report (PDF, page 2 paragraph 2) shows that 3% of their services went to abortion. 36% of their total services were in contraception, 31% testing and treating STDs, and 17% on cancer screenings. Having seen this information I question of referring to it as a “Mega Abortion Clinic” somehow misrepresents their primary activities.

Yeah, because we can trust Planned Parenthood, who has been lobbying to receive TON$$$ of our tax$$$ to tell the truth about that. All you have to do is look at the numbers. Do us all a favor and post for everyone on this site how many abortions were performed last year…in the US and in Texas…and then tell us all whether you think that number is accurate or low based on the premise that Planned Parenthood stood to lose massive funding in a state that is largely Pro-Life.

Regardless, ANY nubmer of abortions is a crime against humanity. The fact that PlannedParenthood reported performing 134 abortions per adoption referral in 2008, that they were willing to claim, is “mega-abortion” enough for me.

Back to the topic, I do think God can intervene in situations by allowing natural occurances to be at their worst, or be worse than they may have normally been…but it’s not something I’d hang my hat on, so to speak.

From PP’s own fact sheet, Planned Parenthood helped 7,021 patients with prenatal care and logged only 977 adoption referrals in 2009. Those combined services account for just 2% of their services to pregnant women.

So what accounts for the other 98%? You guessed it: Abortion. Planned Parenthood performed 332,278 abortions in 2009 — in fact, Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider.

So for every adoption referral, Planned Parenthood performs 340 abortions. They don’t care about helping low-income pregnant women unless those low income women want an abortion!

Oh, and nearly 40% of those killed were African Americans. From blackgenocide.org/black.html:
Minority women constitute only about 13% of the female population (age 15-44) in the United States, but they underwent approximately 36% of the abortions.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion.

On average, 1,876 black babies are aborted every day in the United States.

This incidence of abortion has resulted in a tremendous loss of life. It has been estimated that since 1973 Black women have had about 16 million abortions. Michael Novak had calculated “Since the number of current living Blacks (in the U.S.) is 36 million, the missing 16 million represents an enormous loss, for without abortion, America’s Black community would now number 52 million persons. It would be 36 percent larger than it is. Abortion has swept through the Black community like a scythe, cutting down every fourth member.”
As Abby Johnson well knows, PP’s business model is all about abortion:
Planned Parenthood’s claim that abortions make up just 3 percent of its services is also a gimmick. That number is actually closer to 12 percent, but strategically skewed by unbundling family planning services so that each patient shows anywhere from five to 20 “visits” per appointment (i.e., 12 packs of birth control equals 12 visits) and doing the opposite with abortion visits, bundling them together so that each appointment equals one visit. The resulting difference between family planning and abortion “visits” is striking.

But that’s not the only deception Planned Parenthood is spreading.

It also claims to help reduce the number of abortions. Not only is this not what Planned Parenthood actually accomplishes, but its goal couldn’t be more opposite. As a Planned Parenthood clinic manager, I was directed to double the number of abortions our clinic performed in order to drive up revenue. In keeping, Planned Parenthood headquarters recently issued a directive mandating that all of its affiliates provide abortions by 2013.

Planned Parenthood has found other ways to increase revenue at the expense of women’s safety. Abortion consultations are now often done without a doctor in the room through online “telemedicine.” Abortion is a severely traumatic and potentially dangerous procedure. Even as Planned Parenthood’s 2008 Employee of the Year, I saw this aggressive push toward more “efficient” telemedicine as risky.

Another nuisance the organization is seeking to do away with is reporting sex abuse of minors. It has sued to overturn a child abuse reporting law applying to minors under 14 on the grounds that it violated a girl’s “constitutional right to privacy.” Planned Parenthood called the bill unnecessary given that its medical personnel are already obliged to report such matters and that filing additional reports would only “overload” the government. Planned Parenthood doesn’t want to bother the government with protecting minors.

It also can’t be bothered to enable women to make informed decisions. Planned Parenthood has adamantly opposed laws in nearly two dozen states that require clinic staff to show a woman a sonogram before an abortion. With all the supposed health services these clinics provide, why should they fear sonograms? Because they cut down on its biggest income source.
The ones doing the misrepresenting are Planned Parenthood themselves.

We must do all we can to prevent abortion, but it’s important to note that God has a plan. All the evil we see in this world will be transformed to good. As St Paul writes, in everything God works for good (Rom 8:28).

As a former Maryland resident who moved to Texas about a year ago, I feel relatively confident saying that unless you’re in bad health, this heat wave is NOT torture.

100 degree heat in 10% humidity? Heck, I’ll do outdoor pushups in this. 80 degrees with 80% humidity, on the other hand, is Hell on earth.

Why create the world? Why create anything…?
What? Where are you going with this?

The question was: Why create a heat wave to harm all of Texas instead of just causing a lightning bolt to strike the abortion clinic and burn it down? Why does causing a heat wave to harm millions not affect free will and destroying one building with lightning (hopefully with nobody in it) take away free will? I assume from the OP that the heat wave was meant as punishment and a deterrent for abortion.

If this is God’s punishment, he has poor aim. Texas is a bastion against abortion. If not for the federal governement, abortion would not be legal here. If not for the east coast and left coast, abortion would not be a protected right. I am not saying this can’t be punishment, but abortion??? Me thinks I smell some faulty logic here.

FYI-

Restrictions on Abortion

In Texas, the following restrictions on abortion were in effect as of January 2011:
  • The parent of a minor must consent and be notified before an abortion is provided.
  • A woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided.
  • Public funding is available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest.
Oh, and add to that a declining abortion rate (which has always been below the national average) and the newest law to require sonograms.

😉

3 or 4 years ago in San Diego summer, we hit 110-115 degrees with 70-80% humidity. My job is at an all time high in hours and amount of work in summer, and we work 80% of the time outside in the sun 6-8 hours at a time. Had to bring 3 or 4 shirts to work a day. I never want to experience that again, but most likely will. That was truly Hell.

I think Texas is getting off light. 😉

Thanks for posting that information.

Also, let’s not forget that the new abortion clinic in Houston (Planned Parenthood) is the largest of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. At 6 stories, I’d say that qualifies it as “mega”. If you compare a 1-story shopping mall to a 6-story mall, is not the 6-story a “mega mall”? I do think so. So, yes, this is a Mega-Abortion Clinic right in the heart of Texas.

You asked “Why create the heat wave?” as if every event is directly created - instead of permitted - by God. The vast majority of events have natural causes. Miracles occur but if the notorious abortion clinic were **destroyed **by lightning it would be an extraordinary coincidence specifically linked with the purpose of the building. It would make even an atheist wonder whether it was just an accident whereas a heat wave which affects the whole of Texas is insignificant because it is clearly unrelated to a particular human activity…

So then you disagree with the OP that the heat wave is related to the building of an abortion clinic.
