Based on what I just read about them, it sounds like an organization that I want no part of.

Anyone who advocates discrimination against someone based on how they sin is not a Christian organization in my book.

Discrimination? From their videos I’ve watched, they don’t discriminate. I’ve only seen them peacefully protest. Mind sharing what you read? I’m curious.

This is an organization that wants to shut down LGBT organizations on Catholic campuses.

There is no sin in being LGBT, it is sinful to act on those desires. Shutting down the organizations, or trying to, gives the wrong message. We need to respect our LGBT brothers & sisters, not ostracize them even more with our hatred masquerading as traditionalism.

What is the purpose of these LGB+T organizations? I would assume to promote the homosexual lifestyle.
I think you’re misunderstanding their purpose.

You know what thay say about assuming, don’t you?
In some cases, yes, but not all. Not all people who consider themselves LGBT want to “promote” a lifestyle (whatever that means).
Sometimes it is just nice to belong to an organization where you don’t have to hide who you are, especially on a Catholic campus.

Looks anti-evolution. No thanks. Also looks like they’ve conflated common core curriculum and anti-Catholicism. I’m no fan of common core but not because it’s anti-Catholic.

Yeah, I saw that video. Was turned-off when I found out they were anti-evolution but learned to accept their views since I mostly agree with them.

Agreed. Several of their views are in line with Catholic teaching but some of them (like their views on quote “socialist healthcare”) go beyond that into the realm of right wing politics, and for that reason we should not connect this organization to what the Church teaches.

Hah, well I guess I should assume. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. 😁

Not a fan of socialism, but I do think they are a bit extreme on that one too.

I’m not sure I understand. You were turned off by their anti-evolution rhetoric but learned to accept this position?

Well, I was watching their video of common core, when one of the young men mentioned he was forced to learn about evolution.
I was basically like, “Well, yeah because it’s a topic on human biology.”

Not a fan of socialism, but I do think they are a bit extreme on that one too.
I got it from their website: The Counter-Revolution, Who We Are - The American TFP

The American TFP has promoted:

the love for our Christian heritage; a love of chivalry, social graces, and refinement; an appreciation for healthy and just social inequalities, and traditional elites; respect for the flag and the honor of the nation; patriotism; nationwide Rosaries for the protection of law enforcement; worldwide Rosaries for the defeat of ISIS; the need for beauty in art and architecture; the right to own firearms; the Fatima message of prayer, penance and conversion; love of purity and the faith on college campuses; formation of Catholic youth through Call to Chivalry Summer Camps; public square Rosary rallies; affirming our faith in the public square; the Catholic teaching on “just war”; the refusing of Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians; parental rights; homeschooling; free enterprise and the right to private property; and a sound economy as an integral part of an organic Christian society.

The American TFP has opposed:

contraception; abortion; euthanasia; human cloning; the social acceptance of homosexual practice; anti-discrimination laws that give homosexuals a privileged status; the lifting of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in our military; homosexual adoption; domestic partnerships, civil unions, and same-sex “marriage”; transgenderism; homosexual films, theater plays, events, and pro-homosexual clubs on Catholic college campuses; public blasphemy; nudism; socialist childcare; socialist healthcare; socialist allocation of federal waters; death taxes; self-managing socialism; international communism; President Carter’s human rights policy; the policy of détente with communist regimes pursued by the American and Western governments; progressivism; liberation theology; the Vatican’s policy of Ostpolitik with communist governments; the retroactive lifting of statutes of limitations for civil cases involving sexual abuse; the enactment of State laws forcing clergy to violate the seal of Confession in cases of child abuse; the removal of beauty from and the democratization of the Catholic Church; “frenetic intemperance” in the economy; the ecological movement; pacifism; imprudent nuclear disarmament; and the Occupy Wall Street movement.
A lot of this looks like a typical group that promotes and advocates for right wing causes beyond what the Church teaches. The Church is not right (or left) wing.

As the original link I posted suggests, this group does promote some good and righteous things but many of their opinions on different topics are their own and not the Church’s.

While not being a huge fan of the TFP and it’s “children”, I consider their student actions quite good and decent. It’s quite enjoyable to see fearless Catholic young men fighting for what’s right.
It’s quite funny as well to see those “peace” loving people removing their mask in front of their cameras and going bananas.

What they do is good but they can be passive aggressive I support what they do but I would just simply pray the rosary not have the huge banners. They make themselves a target and if they just prayed the rosary silently they would make the losers who scream at them look bad.

Yes, I would most interested in learning more about just social inequality and social elites

I too love to see fearless Catholic young men (and women) fighting for what’s right. But there’s quite a bit wrong with the American TFP.

Personally, I’ve seen people from both sides “going bananas” in front of cameras. But I’ve never seen anyone “removing their mask”. It’s just unfortunate human nature to go a bit nutso cuckoo when one is in front of a camera.
