I don’t see any difference:confused:. By the way, I don’t see anywhere, where you are thanking them! :newidea:You might want to really thank them in person or any other visible means

I will thank them on an individual basis. I will not broadcast a thank you in a public forum as a means of bashing my own church and compare the Catholic church to all protestants and rail against the Catholic Church for supposedly being less charitable or giving than protestants. That is ridiculous.

Imagine you and your family were at a gathering with other families, and you have a cousin, for example, who took your favorite cd and also owes you some money. Then you stand up, uninvited, in front of the whole gathering and say “I want to thank all of you families for being good citizens and paying back your debts to each other and not stealing things from each other. We, the WilT family, could learn a lot from you all [insert accusing glare at the offending family member here]. You are all salt of the earth and people of the book.”

This is exactly what you are doing here and this is why it has been so offensive to other posters. The “thank you” that you have given has been tainted by your attack on your own diocese. And what’s worse is that you yourself aren’t even willing to try and 1. find catholic charities in your area, or 2. start one of your own. Like others have said you can’t expect the bishops to do everything for you. If you aren’t willing to take action yourself then you don’t have the right to complain or criticize.

It also makes more sense to thank Protestant churches on an individual basis as protestant churches aren’t united as a single unit the way Catholic churches are. Protestant churches vary so widely in terms of beliefs and practices. I mean, imagine if you sent a thank you card to every protestant church in the entire country for their charitable work. I imagine you would get an interesting letter back from Westboro Baptist Church, and possibly a protest on your front lawn. 😛

Thank you again churches for your continued assistance in providing the needs for the homeless in my area. You all have and are attentive to their needs and you provide for them countless help and you don’t rest in doing so. Many others help provide also for their needs out on the streets. Warm thanks to those unknown givers of hope. :clapping::hug3:

No! I don’t think it is for me to do nor do I believe the spirit is leading me to do this!👍

WiLT,

Amen! I could not have stated it better myself!

I have mentioned under other topics that my office resides just a block away from a nondenominational mega church that over shadows anything I have ever experience in regards to community awareness and participation among church members.

I have been Catholic all my life so I can admit with embarrassment that I have gone through periods of apathy when it came to my faith. However, watching all this activity just walking distance from me made me more aware of how little I professed my faith and how much less I knew about it.

It’s a challenge, as Catholics we are just naturally more timid when confronted with a face-to-face dialog with someone that is not Catholic. I also find others that do not share any information but simply become abrasive. I am not telling anyone to become Pentecostal, just approachable.

Anyway, somewhere along my path of having them as working neighbors, I have been motivated to learn more about my faith and it’s history. I cannot not see this as any kind of hindrance. I know my community has benefited from their presences.

Continue to wave your banner!
:angel1:
🙂

Many protestant faiths are helping the homeless and poor in my area. When people on the streets go hungry, they would go and visit many of these Churches for meals. Thank you! Unfortunately, the Catholic parish and Diocese does very little for the homeless and the poor. We can surely learn from you. You are people of the Book.
I think most of Catholic churches help in our area. Often working together with Protestant churches and donating to the same ministries. Our church gives support directly to Catholic Charities to the local diocese.

All good work is through the Holy Spirit. It’s all good. Prayers are good.

Now, if I feel the need to thank them then get over it. You do what you like and I do what I like:D
Of course the problem I have with this thread is not the thanking of our protestant brothers and sisters. this is of course good and just. The problem is with the way you seem to think it is ok to to try and tear someone down while building others up.

When you say the CC in your area doesn’t do anything for the poor I find it quite unbelievable. Top that with the fact that you refuse to tell us which diocese you are in so we can verify your nasty rumour in innuendo simply smacks of at best ignorance and at worst an outright lie.

If you can not see the problem with which you created here, I feel sorry for you and your diocese.

I am through here!🤷
