I wrote here in January I think and I was in dire straits, I was depressed and terrified of death. I wrote here, and then went to the mental hospital. I doubt anyone remembers but I want to thank those that helped me. I embraced my faith again. I still have a long way to go on it, but the progress I made has amazed me. A protestant friend told me that I should simply open my heart to Jesus and say in prayer that I give myself over to him. I didn’t think that would work and and it really didn’t. Unless you feel drastically different after you utter that prayer it’s going to dissuade alot of people. I followed C.S. Lewis’ advice (who’s book someone here suggested to me) that I should “fake it till I make it”. Go through the motions and try hard even if I don’t fully believe. And it works. My life is really turning around. I don’t think that’s because Gods going out of his way to help me but because becoming more spiritual has made me stronger. Oh I still have bad days and entire weeks, but not nearly as bad. The fear of death isn’t very prevalent now. I’m not the best Catholic there is, I aspire to be the best I can but know I have a long way to go.

I doubt it qualifies as a miracle but I’d thought I’d add it in. since I was lonely I joined one of those dating sites. I hadn’t had much luck until suddenly a woman from New York just came out of no where. We are a perfect match it seems, We get along very well. In fact I’m amazed at myself how interested I am in her. I may very well go up to New York to meet her. It’s odd that someone seems perfect for me just appears out of no where. I had prayed that I didn’t want to be lonely anymore. Maybe, just maybe that prayer was answered. I’m not big on believing that but that might change soon.

I do remember!! It is good to hear that you are doing better…

Yes, feelings are nice, but they are very unreliable; I truly feel sorry for some of the people I know, whose faith is dependant on “feeling good”. They wander from one thing to another, in search of those good feelings, & I know that they are:( not happy people.

One of the best things, I find, is reading about the lives of some of the saints of the early days of the Church. Persecuted on every hand, they held to their faith in spite of it all…An example for all of us.

God bless.

I wasn’t a contributor to your thread in January…but I was very happy to read that things are now looking up for you…very happy indeed. Will be keeping you in prayer… God bless and keep you…Barb:)

I think you have it backwards for me. I’m feeling better because of my faith. Not the other way around.

No, I understood, but:blush: did not express myself well.

My thought was of the people I know, who wander from one belief to another, in search of a kind of “high”. They are the sad ones, because they never believe in something enough to stick with it, when their lives are in a rough spot.
You, on the other hand, have remained faithful, even in the tough times, thus bringing you to a place where you are able to enjoy the very real joy of following Jesus Christ…
(While, for example, “E” [real person] has:( left Christ behind to be a Druid…and then an Odinist…and then something Egyptian. And will never be happy, because she is 😦 caught up in finding a new sensation,:crying: instead of resting on the Everlasting Arms of Our Lord.)…

You have done well, my friend!! You have stayed the course; that is what we all work to do in this life.
God bless you for reminding us, once again, that He is ever faithful!!

Hi, Razgovory. I also did not have a chance to visit with you when you 1st posted, but I am so happy you are doing so much better. I’ll thank Jesus for that & say another prayer that you continue to feel stronger & stronger. I’ve been feeling a little down this Lent, & I like your advice to “fake it until you make it”… That sounds like it will help me, & I’m so glad you’re feeling better! 👍
