Re Gregorian Masses -
It only occurred to me over the last day or so to post this special acknowledgement, and I hope Forum Mgrs. don’t mind that I’m not Private Messaging this instead. I wanted to thank Abigail and RoseManiple for suggesting Clear Creek Monastery when I asked about Gregorian Masses. As you well know, due to the strict requirements they are not only difficult to fit into priests’ schedules, but even more at a premium if one prefers TLM. In my TLM research, I could only find a monastery in France available for them - for twice the amount in stipend. (perhaps due to the American $$ value)
Thanks to you two and the Monks at Clear Creek, Gregorian Masses were immediately scheduled, and my mother’s soul has been prayed for all this month into March 1st due to the short February month. Needless to say, God truly had a hand in this since the rules on Gregorian Masses limit their being said during Holy Week. Mom’s Masses will be completed shortly before that. Otherwise, her soul would have had to wait longer for the 30 to start.
Further - a strange coincidence has resulted. While caring for Mom, I had Masses scheduled - well before her passing - (knowing how hard it is to get on a church’s Mass schedule, I thought the Masses would go for Mom’s good - either if she was alive or if by this year she had passed away). I took whatever dates were offered as available. I’d since forgotten the dates until they were recently announced. One of those Mass dates was March 1st - now coinciding with the last day of her Gregorian Masses. I don’t know what significance - Interestingly, it makes 31 Masses on 3/1/08. But, that aside, I do know that only One could have known/planned this - God.
Gregorian Masses were what Mom spoke of while she was well - and I hope God will tell her about you and the good Monks for your kindness. In her own words, just months before passing, “God bless you. When you do something good…it gets repaid.” “God bless them. Everyone that’s doing something. I may not know it but God bless them.” “Everything good that you do, Our Lady sees it.”
