I’ve just returned from Easter Vigil Mass. My conversion is complete, and I am now in full communion with the Catholic Church.

I wanted to post a special “thank you” to everyone on the Aplogetics forum. I have particuarly enjoyed reading your posts over the past several months as I’ve prepared. You have provided me with a wealth of information and I appreciate the time that you’ve spent sharing your thoughts.

I’ll continue to try to absorb as much information as I can. Hopefully one day, I can in turn be a help to others on the journey. Thanks again!

I guarantee that you will. Converts make the best Catholic evangelists. You and I appreciate the gift we have received in our calling, and are most eager to share it with others.

Welcome!!!

Greetings in His name AND congratulations!

I read your post on ‘who killed Christ’ and agree. It is true that the MANY of us played a role in the death of Christ.

Look forward to reading more of your posts.

Your brother in Christ
Craig

Welcome home! All the angels and saints in heaven are celebrating!!!

The Forums provide you a real-world insight to Catholics, with our faults and short-comings readily visible.

Not everybody is a book worm, but if you are, then you already have or should want to have and read the following:
  1. Catholic Bible
  2. Catechism of the Catholic Church
  3. Jesus of Nazareth, Vol 1-2, by Pope Benedict XVI
  4. Verbum Domini, Apostolic Exhortation on the Bible in the Life of the Church, by Pope Benedict XVI – the definitive and comprehensive explanation of the Bible in the Church by the head guy
  5. The Jewish Roots of the Eucharist by Dr. Brant Pitre
These are faith- and Bible-oriented.

There was a Jewish convert to Catholicism on The Journey Home program, and he said he read everything he could get his hands on about Catholicism. He says he has 500 books that he read before joining. Hope it doesn’t take that many for many others to join up.

After I attended a couple of masses, I purchased a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and a couple of books of writings of the Church Fathers. At that point, I knew very little about the Catholic Church and it was my first exposure to the Church Fathers. It was very enlightening to read what the Church currently teaches and cross reference it with what the early Christians believed.

I recall a homily by our Pastor who said that Isaiah, in speaking about Jerusalem, was prophesying about the Church.

***Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad because of her, all you who love her; Exult, exult with her, all you who were mourning over her! Oh, that you may suck fully of the milk of her comfort, That you may nurse with delight at her abundant breasts! For thus says the LORD: Lo, I will spread prosperity over her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing torrent. As nurslings, you shall be carried in her arms, and fondled in her lap; As a mother comforts her son, so will I comfort you; in Jerusalem you shall find your comfort. *(Isaiah 66:10-13)
novusCatholic, may Holy Mother the Church carry you in her arms… May she fondle you in her lap… May you nurse at her abundant breasts.

Welcome home.
