Thanksgiving day activities

Is there anything you and/or family/friends do/have done/are planning to do on Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving weekend, beyond the obvious?

I decided to bring Nok Hockey to play with the family and I’m kinda pumped about it…lol

After the festivities on Thursday and a little one on one time with the wife on Friday, I’ll probably spend most of my extended weekend on video games.
 
Interesting. I’ve never heard of nok hockey. 🙂

I used to do fried turkey for our family. I’ve since gone vegetarian (which everyone is fine with), but no longer fry turkey (which is the less popular part of this). Beyond that, my wife and I will go for a little run with a local shop in the morning and then spend the evening with her parents. 🙂
 
Probably writing. I relax by writing romance novels =)
And shoveling snow (I am in New Jersey)

A blessed Thanksgiving to all!

As Thanksgiving is not a holiday where I live, nothing out of the ordinary is on the schedule for the actual day. The (French) Husband and I will, however, share a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with the local American expats on Sunday. It means I have to miss an ordination Mass scheduled for the same time, and normally even my own funeral wouldn’t keep me from one of those 😉 But Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and I don’t get to do much American stuff here, so I’m not going to pass up on a chance to relax and be with “my own” for an afternoon.

Maybe we’ll get lucky and someone will bring a football to toss around (I don’t own one myself)…
 
Last year was the first year we went to our parish’s Thanksgiving Day Mass, where they bless bread and distribute it to all the families present. So we’ll be doing that this morning before we head over to dinner. 🙂

I’m thankful that I am only responsible for pies this year, so I made them yesterday and didn’t spend this morning swearing because I forgot some important item (though somehow, making pies, I forgot I was out of flour and low on butter. :o).

Other than that it’s dinner, watching football, and playing with the kids. Low-key, but I like it. 👍
 
Pre divorce we used to cook in the morning, go for a drive, eat, nap, go for a walk and then play family games and eat pie. We had another family we would gather with.

now…I’m here and I am guessing the rest are doing the things we used to do together.
