So, I’m a leader in my secular university’s pro-life club and I am thinking of several collaboration ideas we could do. Since we are considered with dignity at all stages of life, we are trying to do more with the elderly, disabled, and dying and I think other student groups would be more willing to collaborate with us on those sorts of projects because it is not so close to abortion. Not only do we want to do something good for those aforementioned groups, but, we want to break stereotypes about pro-life people, our beliefs, and our motivations. Our group has tried to reach out to other clubs for collaborations unrelated to abortion, like, for a proposed project to make the campus better for parenting students, we were turned down simply for being a pro-life group. I asked around the hospice I volunteer at and someone is willing to speak for free on end of life care and now I’m writing a letter to our pre-med society to join in on this because we ourselves don’t have enough members to make a speaker event reasonable. Also, I want to do a card-making event for either a nursing home or a hospital in a residential dorm because no one shows up to events in the winter, so, I thought it might be better to just bring them to the people.
Always, I’m afraid the answer will be: “I’m sorry, I’m afraid we can’t do that.” I ask why and it’s because we are pro-life. But, hey, you don’t need to agree with us on everything to help us on the thingns you do agree with. And, we are not necessarily asking for converts, just to show the world what we truly believe and what motivates us. It is not becuae we hate women: I’m a women, most of the club is female, and being pro-life is more than being anti-abortion. Also, our student government loves seeing groups collaborate and rewards that with more funding to all participating parties, all the more reason to join us on a project. Also, more funding equals bigger and better projects in the future. Therefore, I want everyone here to help us out and pray that we land a few collaborations to have a successful year 2016-2017.
