Testimony of a satanist who converted to the Catholic Faith after summoning a demon through a ritual circle went terribly wrong:

Circles, properly used, are hardly in the same category with tarot cards and ouija boards, both of which are specifically used for divination. If a circle in and of itself were bad, then various circular shrines I’ve attended would have to change their shape for fear of calling up a demon.

Please don’t fall into the trap of thinking every little thing is the occult out to get you. You seem to be rather preoccupied on many threads with demonic influences.

I feel like your connection is similar to advocating that playing cards (Ace through King) are bad because tarot cards are bad.

I never said the shape of a circle was demonic Mrs Bear. There are circles everywhere. It doesn’t make a circle bad.

I said ritualistic use of a circle as a method to make prosperity demands is a demonic practice.

Stepping inside a circle to gain power from a force, to summon a false deity, etc (as the occult uses this for)

We agree the book sounds spiritually harmful. I just think you’re going a step or two further than is reasonable.

I would agree with that. I’m just concerned you may be overgeneralizing in applying it to the actual Honi story

Nope.

Don’t worry Mrs Bear I am not going around screaming:

‘Lookout behind you it’s a Circle!’

‘Aaaaaaaaahhhhh’

Yes, we agree on this. It is an incorrect use of a circle.

But there are many other acceptable uses of a circle for Christian prayer.

I can’t really think of any correct use of a Ouija board or tarot cards.

If your objection is to “prosperity demands” leave the circles out of it. They are just a distraction.

This is a thread about using ‘ritualistic circles’ and ‘prosperity demands’

Both topics apply to this thread.

I have actually read the whole book, I started reading it so that my friend and I could get together and pray together as she had suggested. I read 4 chapters and my stomach was in knots. Within thw first chapter I kept telling myself, this can NOT be what this author is saying! Ao I started all over , this timw making notes and checking every scripture reference- which by the way is in the back of the book. A single verse here , half of a verse there- the story of Jericho is the only “passage” that is mentioned in context - He speaks as though Honi is a real prophet throughout the book… though he is not mentioned in the Bible even once ! The fact that the legend of Honi is cited in a wiccan book by a witch who is encouraging the reader to make a circle like Honi and cast their spells within the circles… that is enough to me to know I want No Part of it.
