The #1 Bible Study Church = The Catholic Church

The United States had 7,498 Catholic schools in 2006-07, including 6,288 elementary schools and 1,210 secondary schools. In total there were 2,320,651 students, including 1,682,412 students in the elementary/middle schools and 638,239 in high schools.

Every Catholic School teaches bible lessons for about 1 hour of class every single day to 2.3M students.

The Catholic Church therefore has taught more bible lessons (bible study) to children compared to any other Christian church, and for many many years.

Catholic females account for roughly 31% of the female population. They also account for roughly 31% of the abortions.
Protestant females account for roughly 54% of the female population. They also account for roughly 37% of the abortions.

Seems like all that time spent in Bible Study didn’t result in the lesson being learned.

Why do Catholics have the reputation, for not knowing and or not having a passion for the bible?

The bible is a product of God.
And is equal to Tradition and the Magisterium. I don’t know why Catholics have that reputation?

How active are your Adult Sunday School programs in your Church for Catholics?

Billy sorry but this is incorrect. It’s not Bible study. The teachings are from a religion book which contains the teachings on the Catechisms. It’s not straight Bible study. The Bible may be referenced to confirm the Church’s teaching in the Catechisms but so what. It’s still skewed to Catholic interpretations. Being #1 doesn’t mean you’re right.

Excaliber the plain truth is the average Catholic does not know much about scripture. I grew up in the Catholic church and couldn’t tell you too much on what it said. But I could tell you what the church taught from the Catechisms. Not trying to be sarcastic or inflammatory at all. When I attended Catholic school many Methodists and Presbyterians also attended my school because the education was so much better than most public schools that were in the surrounding area. When we had religion class I was always amazed at the scriptural knowledge they had versus the Catholic students.

I noticed more recently that the church has emphasized scripture more and more which is a great thing.

You mean your classmates could quote more verses. Being able to talk about the Bible isn’t the same as believing Truth. For example, you probably think you know more about the Bible now, but your church teaches some things that aren’t true. so do you really?

No not quote verses. That’s ridiculous. Anyone can do that. They knew the teachings of scripture and where they could be found. They may have been more aligned to what their respective denominations taught but the point still remains. I meet Catholics that say I don’t read about the pope in scripture or all these teachings on Mary. Then when you show them how the Catholic church arrives at those teachings some will say “I can see how that makes sense, not sure I agree”, or “that doesn’t make sense at all”.

As far as me thinking I know more about the Bible. It’s not think. I know for sure I do. And since you seem to know my church so well why don’t you tell me what they teach that is in error?:coffeeread:

I have had the opposite experience with protestants. Most of my friends are protestant and they are okay at quoting the scriptures. But their ability to properly exegete the scripture is lacking. We can even see this when we move on to the educated class. Compare your protestant writers with catholic writers and you see even a greater divide in substance.

I have children that attend a Catholic School. I will not agree with you that my children’s religious studies in the Catholic School are a straight Bible Study Class. I can’t find the Assumption of Mary in the Bible anywhere…

But dear friend in Christ, in the few hundred years your New Religion has been around, you havent had time to discover that their can’t be “your truth and my truth.” If there were, we’d have no truth:thumbsup:

All, I repeat, all, singular truth on matters of Faith and Morals are centered, located in and the orginate from the Roman Catholic Church.

As you well know (I assume your a minister?) the terms: “bind” and “loose,” were at the time and continue even today to be common Rabbi language for issueing anonomous authority, that was legeally binding on all, to grant permission, and grant a mandate to govern.

Seems pretty clear what Christ is saying and doing. And by the way, did you happen to notice how many different denomonations He actually founded, and therefore wanted? JUST ONE:tiphat: :
