Yeah, I didn’t mean you, I meant more the people who would agree with the people in the video or think this sort of exercise is funny.

I like about half of them. Heck, I even like a couple of Marty Haugen songs a lot. I guess what works for me where I am and what works in Florida are different, but I am not offended by them dishing out dirt on this music. It was all in good fun. There was one thing I agreed with quite a bit. That is, when people are singing that is one criteria that the music is good. I have found that how a song is played/led can make a huge difference, that is, the tempo and the key.

To give their list on the main page for those who will not view:
  1. Companions on The Journey
  2. Sing a new Song unto the Lord
  3. We Remember
  4. Hear I am Lord
  5. The King of Glory 23:13
  6. Table Of Plenty lyrics 25:00
  7. Be not Afraid 26:05
  8. On eagle’s wing 33:58
I am missing 2 here. I don’t know where.
These aren’t my favorites and I haven’t heard some of them, but from the ones I have heard, I can certainly think of worse.

It rattles my chain to have song lyrics changed for feminist reasons, which is why most of the modern revision occurred.

Sure, I’ll sing the new version, if at all, but why not leave well enough alone!

Neither the Bible nor 99% of Church history was “woke” about gender inclusivity, yet the Church generated a huge procession of saints, which is its reason for being.

Watch the video, there are a bunch of them, so funny!!!

Uh, okay. I found that more entertaining (and original) than the videocast in the OP. Thanks!

I skipped through the video to hear the songs…all familiar to me.

The problem with music ministry at Mass isn’t as much the song selection as the monopoly of sound by dominating musical instruments and choir. The instrument and choir should lead the parish into singing…not drown out and dominate.
So sad this hasn’t been corrected.

I really wish things weren’t put into a category like "Best’ or “Worst”.

Now, if somebody wanted to make a list of “10 most over-done Catholic songs/hymns in my parish”, that might be more helpful, because people’s parishes can be so different, and a person who is tired of hearing the same old songs in Parish A could look at the list from somebody in Parish B, C, D, etc., and find something that he or she didn’t know, or only rarely heard, and could ask the music director to give it try, while somebody from parish B, C, etc. could find a song they liked and rarely heard which was on Parish A’s list, etc. I think that would be much more helpful.
