What is the meaning of the 2th sorrowful mystery. Is the same that the 3th? I don’t understand the difference.

The “scouraging at the pillar” (2nd Sorrowful ) and the “crowning with thorns” (3rd Sorrowful). Not sure what you don’t understand? Could you elaborate a little?

As the OP says he is already confused, perhaps you will allow me to correct your mistyping ‘scouraging’ to ‘scourging’ as we don’t want to confuse him even further!

When i pray, I think on both the same. For example, on the 4th Sorrowful M. is clear for me to think about carrying the cross meanings. On the 5th His dead and why He did it.
But on the 2th and 3th they are for me different moments of His physical pain ( I know all the Sorrowful M are about physical pain. I want to go further)

The beauty of the rosary (and its practicality as well), is that while these mysteries can mean something different for everyone personally, since nobody is the same. Ask Our Lady to help you find the meaning for you. It may also help to find yourself a good meditation guide.

**None of the sorrowful mysteries happened at one time.

It is the progression of pain (for our sins) that lends one to contemplate the spiritual impact of the sinfulness of humanity.**

There is a distinction between the second and third. In the second, the soldiers beat Jesus physically. In the third, they mock his kingship and heap ridicule on him.

I usually contemplate our ‘physical’ sins (lust, gluttony, sloth, anger) on the scourging mystery and our more ‘intellectual’ sins (pride, envy, avarice) on the crowning with thorns and the mockery.Does that help draw a difference?

When I pray the 3rd Sorrowful Mystery, I always meditate on two particularly unique forms of suffering. First, as another poster said, a huge part of this torture was that he was humiliated and mocked - it was very psychological. But for me, the part that really sticks out is that it is the one part of the passion where he has no one near him that has any affection for him at all. At the agony in the garden, he did have his three disciples even if they were asleep. At the scourging, it was most probably public, so even if he could not see his friends and mother, they were most probably near. And during the carrying of the cross and the crucifixion, he had his mother near.

But for those moments during the “crown of thorns”, he was humiliated, he was spat upon and hit with a reed and crowned with thorns, he had a heavy robe put on his bloody, scourged body, and he was waiting with dread at the tortures to come when it was time for the crucifixion. The worst part of the whole thing for me, however, is the fact that he was totally and completely alone.

St. Francis de Sales says to find a moment to dwell with Christ, and for me, this mystery is the moment. When I’m feeling down, dejected, alone, humiliated, or anxious, I just go to that place in my mind, and sit with Christ. We sit there alone, together. It gives me great comfort.
