Here is a beautifully written explanation on the absurdities of religious indifferentism, and how this leads to no religion at all. Unfortunately Catholics everywhere have been promoting this absurdity ever since Vatican II. It’s time for people to wake up.

Catholic Encyclopedia - Religious Indifferentism
“All religions, indeed, may be said to contain some measure of truth; and God may accept the imperfect worship of ignorant sincerity. But it is injurious to God, Who is truth itself, to assert that truth and falsehood are indifferent in His sight. Since various religions are in disagreement, it follows that, wherever they conflict, if one possesses the truth the others are in error. The constituent elements of a religion are beliefs to be held by the intellect, precepts to be observed, and a form of worship to be practiced. Now – to confine ourselves to the great religions of the world – Judaism, Mohammedanism, Christianity, and the religions of India and the Orient are in direct antagonism by their respective creeds, moral codes, and cults. To say that all these irreconcilable beliefs and cults are equally pleasing to God is to say that the Divine Being has no predilection for truth over error; that the true and the false are alike congenial to His nature. Again, to hold that truth and falsehood equally satisfy and perfect the human intellect is to deny that reason has a native bent towards, and affinity for, truth. If we deny this we deny that any trust is to be placed in our reason. Turn to the ethical side of the question. Here again there is conflict over almost all the great moral issues. Let an illustration or two suffice. Mohammedanism approves polygamy, Christianity uncompromisingly condemns it as immoral. If these two teachers are equally trustworthy guides of life, then there is no such thing as fixed moral values at all. If the obscene orgies of phallic worship are as pure in the sight of God as the austere worship that was conducted in the temple of Jerusalem, then we must hold the Deity to be destitute of all moral attributes, in which case there would be no grounds for religion at all. The fact is that this type of Indifferentism, though verbally acknowledging the excellence and utility of religion, nevertheless, when pressed by logic, recoils into absolute Indifferentism. “All religions are equally good” comes to mean, at bottom, that religion is good for nothing.”

Really? That is quite a general statement to make. Certainly not ALL Catholics are making these false claims…I’ve never met one personally. Respecting the people who belong to different religions is different than saying that all religions are equal, and I hope most people have the common sense to recognize that.

We can show common human love and courtesy to each other without embracing the beliefs of others. I will not deny the truth of Catholicism, but it does no good to beat people over the head with it, either.

All of this serves to indicate the teaching that man is, both by nature and vocation, a religious being (CCC44). Atheism, communism and all such “belief systems” are forms of religion. Psychology can be a form of religion. Sports? Huge religion, and growing. One would have to be comatose not to have some sort of belief system, and even then, a person in a coma believed in something before they entered that state.

The weakness and laziness of mankind, the unwillingness to defend one’s own beliefs - a manifestation of concupiscence if you will - leads to the concept of indifferentism. That 1970s book “I’m OK, You’re OK” did not begin this concept - it only strove to legitimize it.

I think the best lesson to learn from the quote in the OP is the concept of truth, which many people have lost today.

If someone were to go around telling people 2+2=5, do we show the person “respect” by leaving the person alone in their error, while they continuously make a fool of themselves and mislead other people? No, if we know that 2+2=4, then we know all other answers are false and the appropriate thing to do would be to point it out to the person. Yes, you don’t have to beat them over the head with it, but you should make a decent effort to point it out for their own good.

Even 1000 times more so with our faith. If we know Catholicism is true, then we know all other religions are false and not vehicles of salvation. So if you are Catholic and see someone in a false religion, if you have the opportunity and are up to the task, it would certainly be showing the person more respect to try and get them to see what the right religion is rather than to just leave them alone where they will likely lose their soul. People have come to believe that it’s “respect” to leave people in their errors when it is actually negligence, should you know the truth and not do your best to point out.
