Ben Masada;5550799:
Dear Ben,

You are a real character… The nerve of you to think that your belief system is crack-proof. What it appears to be is hate-filled. Do you have anger issues? Oops, I better not set you off. With the attitude you have no wonder many Gentiles believe the Jews to be arrogant to the fullest extent. I am glad I know so many Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn to know that you are in the minority. They may keep to themselves, but in conversation they are wonderfully kind people. I give two thumbs up to my friends in Brooklyn.

It’s not by FAITH that I believe. It is by the GRACE of God given to me freely contingent upon the level of humility I am at. The key word is humility. And, as you can see, I can’t explain GRACE in one word because I thought I might help you attain a higher level of love with the Almighty, Who is so merciful to those who humbly ask. The Almighty is also All-Loving.

It is funny though. The Almighty had a very personal relationship with so many infamous Jews. Do you not desire the same. It is deeper than just following the law. I love the Almighty and I want to do what He would have me do. Yes, I mess up. Yes, I go to confession about it. I feel clean again. Reborn every time I make a good Confession. I try again to obey Him the way I believe He would have me be.

‘Too many words, too little said’ will be your response.

May God bless you, Ben Masada

I guess your Scriptures are different than our English translation that says that Abram, now Abraham, would be the father of many nations, including Arabs. Last account I had was most Arabs were not of the Jewish faith
**Let me try to clear up a misconception of yours about me. It might seem to you that I hate, and I don’t even understand why it would. The point is that I don’t. I hate no one. What would you like me to do to prove that I don’t hate, to convert and become a Catholic? And then what? At least, you would stop learning from me.

There is no learning in the chit-chatting of common beliefs. Learning is achieved through the discussion of controversial issues. I am so fun of learning that I wonder if I would like you to drop Jesus as a Jewish man. I would be out of commission. I would have no more reason to stick around. So, let Jesus stay where you have him, and let me keep struggling to snatch him out of you. In the process I have been learning a lot. And I am sure, so have you.**

I don’t think so.

Well, based on your answer above, God by His omnipotence, could be born of a woman. As you said, he is not subject to Jewish belief.👍
Neither to the whims of Christian faith. Don’t forget I said that too.

The Jews were not honest as they were so envious about Jesus’ growing popularity. So what can you expect from them? They would use every opportunity to pin Jesus down.

That’s not true at all. Jesus had even Pharisees to address him as Rabbi and Master. The envy here is of the Hellenistic Gentiles who wrote the gospels.

In fact, it was not the first time the Jews rebuked Jesus for Sabbath law violation.

They never did. It is all in the mind of the gospel writers.

Matthew 12

1 At that time Jesus went through the corn on the sabbath: and his disciples being hungry, began to pluck the ears, and to eat. 2 And the Pharisees seeing them, said to him: Behold thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days. 3 But he said to them: Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him: 4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for them that were with him, but for the priests only? 5 Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple break the sabbath, and are without blame?

this never happened. Jesus was aware of the rule of Pichuach Nephesh, used by the Priests in the Temple.

10 And behold there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

Again, Pichuach Nephesh. And the Jewish leaders were well aware of it.

11 But he said to them: What man shall there be among you, that hath one sheep: and if the same fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not take hold on it and lift it up? 12 How much better is a man than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do a good deed on the sabbath days. 13 Then he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand; and he stretched it forth, and it was restored to health even as the other. 14 And the Pharisees going out made a consultation against him, how they might destroy him. 15 But Jesus knowing it, retired from thence: and many followed him, and he healed them all.

And Jesus was perfectly right to heal whoever he pleased on the Sabbath. And I am sure that the criticism was only in the mind of the gospel writers.

I agree with you on this Ben. You are a gadfly but an interesting & challenging one.

Hellenized gentiles is redundant don’t you think. You must mean Hellenized Jews.

Ah the envious exalted the person they were envious with? That defies common sense.

And yes, the Pharisees addressed Jesus as Rabbi and Master and yet they worked hard to pin him down.

And yet the Jews openly asked for his death.🤷

No, it is not. There are many more Gentiles who have nothing to do with Hellenism than Hellenized Gentiles. The gospel writers were not Hellenized Jews but Gentiles. Hellenized Jews were those of the kind the Maccabees fought against before the Hasmonian Dinasty.

**The gospel writers were envious of the Jewish leaders.

The Pharisees never worked to pin Jesus down. This is a psychological transfer of the Pauline anger towards the Pharisees as if it were in Jesus. Paul never wanted anything more than to start Christianity in Israel and eventually transfer his headquarters from Antioch to Jerusalem. The Pharisees in general and the Nazarenes in particular never allowed him that wish. Then, a few Christians in Israel would gather in family houses. Paul died without ever having seen a church in Israeli soil.**

Really?

The apostles were persecuted by the Jewish leaders. Stephen was stoned to death by the Jews.

Your argument defies logic.

The Pharisees never wanted Christian organization to flourish in the Jewish territories as this was a threat to their egos and pride.

It is ironic that te people who call themselves a people of God (an egoistic claim, anyway), were so insecure to the point of wiping out any potential threat.🤷

**Stephen’s alleged stoning never happened for three reasons: First, you claim that the Jewish leaders did not execute Jesus because they had lost that power to the Romans. Then, all of a sudden they executed Stephen. That’s a contradiction. Second, the Sanhedrin did not work that disorganized in the function of an execution. And third, the speech of Stephen was too Christian, when Christianity had another 15 years to come about with Paul. Your argument is too full of contradictions.

The Pharisees never wanted a Christian organization in Israel because it would introduce idolatry and Greek Mythology into the Country.

We don’t call ourselves a People of God. The Bible does. Have you read the Bible lately? It might be good to you to do that.**

The Alleged Sons of God =

According to an ancient Roman policy, any able-bodied man from theconquered lands, who joined the Roman Army, would obtain authomatic citizenship. And if he was lucky enough to reach retirement age, he could choose where he would like to spend the rest of his life, and he would be granted a piece of land or farm as severance pay for his services to the Empire. Rome excluded.

When the Roman Legions arrived in the Middle East and conquered Sidon, a man called Pantera applied to join the Army and was accepted. Then, he was conscripted into the Roman Legion which got stationed in Syria. When he reached retirement age, he chose to return to Sidon and got his farm there to live for the rest of his life.

According to Josephus, in the year 4 BCE, there was a local revolt in Israel against Herod, which was threatening to depose him. Herod appealed to Rome for help and Caesar gave orders to the Legion stationed in Syria to cross over into Israel and put down the revolt.

Thousands of Roman soldiers came over and the task was quite easy. They crucified a few thousand Jews, and decided to stay for some time to make sure the discontent were subdued. In the meantime, the Roman soldiers would rape young Jewish ladies almost daily.

As it was to expect, many children were born as a result of those rapes. Since the unfortunate mothers were not to blame for promiscuity, the religious authorities forbade to ostracize them or to consider their children as mamzerim or ba$tards. But they grew up with the epithet of “sons of God.” (Lecture on the “Historical Jesus” at Stanphord University)

Since Jesus was born just about that time, I am of the opinion that it is much more prudent and less embarrassing to acknowledge that he was a biological son of Joseph’s than to run the risk that Jesus might have been one of those “sons of God.”

Now, regarding Mark 7:24, I have here with me two different Bible translations. One is the Catholic New American version of the Bible wherefrom I read that when Jesus went to Sidon, he would retire into a certain house and wanted no one to recognize him in there. The other translation is the King James version, wherefrom I read that when Jesus went to Sidon, he would enter into a certain house and would have on man know it.

Although I am not assuming anything, everyone of us has all the right in the world to speculate about such a shouting evidence, and to think that there was something fishy going on for Jesus to insist on secrecy about his being in Sidon or in that certain house. At that time Joseph had been long dead. Could it be that jesus knew about his real origins
and was interacting with his real father? Everything is possible, but if you ask me, I am still in favour that he was rather a biological son of Joseph’s. At least, Joseph’s and Mary’s names won’t be smeared by Agnostics, who are only too ready to acknowledge.l

“The Myth of the Pax Romana” by Prof. Erick Hinnerman, a German Scholar of the 19th Century.

Ben:
Hi Ben

I must admit, I have never heard a Militant Jew , like yourself, before. I have found most Jewish people that I have met over the years to be very tolerant people, who respect Christians though they disagree with them. They do not have any problem integrating into Western Society at all and in ordinary secular activity they are, generally, indistinguishable from Christians; my own Accountant is such an individual. This is unlike many Muslims who do seem to have some difficulty integrating ( no disrespect intended ).

However when I read the ‘material’ that you have posted here it does, to say the least, raise the hackles somewhat; I really do not think that you are doing Judaism any favours in launching such a blistering and unfounded attack on Christianity.
Who is this ’gentleman’ Mr Hinnerman; I can find no references to him anywhere. I have tried to ‘google’ his name but came up with nothing.

I understand that this ‘story’ was first circulated by a Roman militant anti-Christian; which was blatant disinformation against Christians at the time.( as noted in post 6 by ‘The Questioner’).

With regard to your references to the Bible: people have abused the Bible for years to misquote passages out of context to support their extremist views. For instance Gen 9:27, Gen 11, Acts 12:26 has been used, out of context, to support the ideas of slavery, segregation and apartheid in society. That is why, in my opinion, The Pope and The Magisterium is so important to interpret the Bible correctly ( no disrespect intended to non-Catholics).

With regard to the passage from the Gospel that you quote: Mark 7:24 KJV ‘…and entered into an house and would have no man know it: but He could not be hid…’ Jesus was quite well known at the time and often took time out for reflection and prayer as He did in His time in The desert, and in The garden of Gethsemane prior to His arrest. If you read the whole passage He did so here as well until He was discovered by ‘… a certain woman, whose daughter had an unclean spirit…’

So I really think you should rethink your position Ben.

Where does this anti-Christian attitude come from, by the way, Ben. My own view about why the Jewish people rejected Jesus is that He wasn’t what they were expecting; simple as that. I, personally, am quite tolerant of all mainstream religions; I think, generally, they are a good thing in society; though we disagree; Catholic and Protestant, Jew and Muslim; the alternative is chaos. But it cannot be allowed for extremists to sow seeds of division between people.

Ben, I gotta admit you keep things lively on these forums.

Are you a fan of Roswell, the 2nd biggest conspiracy of all time?

So that you will decide to stop distorting the image of Judaism before the world by using a religious Jew to insert Hellenistic innovations into it.
If we weren’t distorting it as you say, what is the correct image of Judaism?

Here’s what I see: a small Middle Eastern ethnic group that believes that they are the chosen people of God by birth, created to rule over all other people. Is this true or not? I am not trying to bait you here. Where is it in your law that you should care about anyone outside of the Jewish nation?

The innovation brought on by Christianity is that the “chosen people of God” is by faith instead of by birth, which rests on the divinity of Jesus. This is the real importance of the virgin birth… it was a spiritual birth, the same way all Christians are ‘born’.

The relationship of the chosen people of God and those that have not accepted the faith (at least in theory) is prompted by including those people in salvation instead of excluding and ruling over them.

Luther was right about what? Certainly not justification by faith alone! The Catholic Church and the Lutheran Church, unless I am mistaken are in agreement that we are saved by grace through faith & works.

Ben, what do you think of those who say there is no archaeological evidence of the Exodus? Is this not the foundational myth of Judaism which legitimizes the state of Israel and if it is not a factual event, then where is the legitimacy of Israel?

Did Christians really believe that God could be born out of a woman? Or they simple could not stomach to hold back their policy of Replacement Theology?
Actually it was Jewish fishermen who first believed, like it or not.
Exactly.

Revelation of the Incarnation could not be proclaimed from the mouth of anyone. Who could believe such a thing? A very intimate revelation required a very intimate relation with the revelator. Anna and Simeon were and part of the community forming around the Incarnation. A community by necessity hidden within the community of Jews.

That’s the dynamics of human life responding to revelation.
