I’m going to team up with some of our youth and do that to our altar. Pastor Pete is going to be so confused!

That was very nice! It shows that there is no reason why any parish would be unable to offer a TLM due to the furnishings.

Like turning an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan! OUTSTANDING!

Excellent video. These priests should start a reality show on tv where they redecorate churches- Pimp my Sanctuary 😛

ROTFL!

With something like that, it makes one wonder why parishes worry that they aren’t “outfitted” to offer TLM.
Also, knowing how easy it is to convert an altar, it makes it easier for even the strange alters of the modern parishes to change into a more appropriate altar. Just build a nice wooden surround for the altar, like the one used in the video.
Very educational!
Thank you!

Wasn’t there some requirement about a saint being - located in the middle? :o
Only a crucifix with candles on either side is required. A large and prominent crucifix at the back of the altar suffices.
Also where exactly is the tabernacle?
Catholig
In the video? It’s the temporary square curtained structure in the centre.

I assume you are referring to the relics of saints? Since Vatican II, they are no required to be placed in altars (or tables, depending on the church). Some Novus Ordo altars do have them though. Where they exist, it is a small square cavity cut into the center of the altar where an “altar stone” with one or more crosses is placed. The altar stone contains a relic of a saint. It is pretty much required to celebrate the Traditional Mass, since there is a line in the Mass where we invoke the “saint whose relics are here”. So I assume the Novus Ordo altar in the video already contains the relics of a saint.
I have also seen where priests will use a beautifully embroidered cloth with the relic of a saint sewn into it and celebrate Mass over that. I don’t know what the name for this is, but I assume most Traditional priests and all pre-Vatican II priests used one of these things whenever they celebrated Mass if they couldn’t celebrate Mass on a real altar. I have seen my priest use this before when he had to say the Mass in a Novus Ordo church that no longer had a high altar. The Orthodox use this item even on their altars in their churches, instead of having altar stones.

The antimension. It could only be used by Papal indult and the blessing for it was introduced into the Pontificale in 1962…

Wow that was an excellant transformation. We have Mass between two Novus Ordo Masses so it limits the Mass to an hour. The priest just says Mass with his back to the people, with an altar, very naked looking compared to the one transformed in the video. The priest also uses a stone which I assume has relics in it. Hope we can do this someday.

My daughter and I watched and thought the alter was beautiful after completion. Then we saw your comment and were on the floor laughing!!! Thanks, we needed that.

The Sanctuary is a very holy place. I don’t think your statement is appropriate. Have we lost our sense of holiness?

That very much resembles how the altar at my church is transformed for the TLM–but ours is done by only two elderly women who get it done in about a third the time as those guys 😃

No, you have just lost your sense of humor.
I got a kick out of the video. But there are lines I just don’t cross, I can’t even relate to using certain terms in reference to the undertaking of transforming the sacred Altar for Mass…they just don’t co-exist with me. Holy is Holy.
