Thank you very much for the nudge, Water. A date I need to put in my calendar which I am going to do now. Today here is the 8th…and I remember by First Communion with great fondness. Thanks heaps for the link to St. Therese’s memories of her First Communion Day.

These are the opening words to the hymn we sung going up to our First Holy Communion:
"How sweet to be a little child
And hear The Saviour say
Let little children come to me
And turn them not away.

What other day in all our lives
Can be so sweet as this
When Christ bestows on children’s
Lips, their First Communion Kiss"

…after that and very sadly I only remember the final verse:

“And yet another day will come
As full of Joy as this
When Jesus will delight to come
Within our hearts to live”

Thank you again…Barb:)

I remembered mine just a little bit - I was dressing in a white T-shirt. Few days before the Commion, we had a little retreat, and first Confession. After the first Communion, I tried to stay far from committing sins – it is hard to do it now as I am much older.

I’m a convert so my first communion was as an adult. It was sooooooo wonderful! As a shy type, I was glad that I wasn’t the only one crying.
