Hi Naztakuan,
Code:
Our Holy Mother has appeared in several countries assuming the ethnic identity of the particular visionaries. It is a great joy that She took the form of a Japanese woman in traditional Japanese garb. Our Lady loves all people and all cultures, and calls all people to her Son.
I found the following on Apparitions.org, by following link 2 on Venerable Mary of Agreda, having full Catholic approval
Code:
Spanish explorers, while in the unexplored region north of Mexico, had encountered numerous Native American tribes in New Mexico, Arizona and Texas who had already been converted to Christianity, and somehow knew of "Jesus Christ" the Savior. Even more fantastic were the Indian's claims of being visited by a white-skinned "Blue Lady" who appeared to many, drifting in a blue haze while she preached the word of the Lord in their native languages. She helped them to build crosses and places of worship, and even handed out rosaries and religious objects.
God Bless

Greetings, Grace and Peace from Above,

The Carnal Country thinking:
  1. I’m American First and foremost
  2. I’m American proud to be one.
The Lord God’s Teaching:
  1. You are not of this world, no race, but the race of Heaven. Christian=of Christ ]
  2. They who worship Me must do so in Spirit and in Truth.
  3. The Carnal Mind cannot comprehend the Things of the Spirit Tree of Knowledge which transformed the whole human race ]
  4. I Am the Bread of Heaven, The Vine. Tree of Knowledge ] eat of Me and Drink of Me and you shall live forever! But this must be done in the State of Grace to maintain your Sanctitiy.
  5. Any one who Believes in Me shall be saved.
  6. The Holy Mother Church - Virgin Mary*
*Virgin Mary: The Ark of God Revelations 11:19 - Revelations 12:1

Significance of the Ark of God. It houses the Lord, The Mercy Seat. reference: Old Testament: Ark of the Covenant ]

What do we Catholic Christians have in the church building?
The Tabernacle, which houses the Host = Lord Jesus Christ the Gold Box ]

Revelations 12:1 A Woman Clothed with the Sun. “Golden”

She bore Christ: The Holy Spirit came upon Her, She was overshadowed by the Father, the Lord was seated in Her.

These are the significances or representation for us to know how it is all done. To identify physically to make more “aware” to the senses to take one higher into the Elevation of the Spiritual aspect which God created in the beginning. Genesis 1, 2, 3.

Those who do not understand, either, have not turned their lives over to the Holy Spirit, through the Holy Mother, The Virgin. Or have not the sense to understand, or have not been enlightened because they are more into other parts of the Spiritual things. In which case Praise the Lord! Alleluia! Amen!

To those who “think” spirituality is of the Mind and Not of the Spirit are wrong.

The spiritually starts with the Soul, Wisdom of God must descend into the soul which is located in ones Heart.

Read Proverbs first couple of chapters, Psalm 1, Book of Wisdom. Understand that Wisdom is higher than the useless knowledge spread about by the lies and falsehood of the Devil.
Tree of Knowledge; Metamoriphical in sense not actual ]

What does the Tree of Knowledge do for man?
1 It makes one stupid to Gods Spirit, dense, senseless, rebel.
2 Cannot see God in anything because the Soul is not in charge.

Thus anyone who looks at any thing God does with the mind cannot comprehend nor see the Spirit working, acting, sending messages, prompting, attracting ones soul to the Perfect Light.

The Tree of Knowledge is a no no.

The Tree of Life is IT! Gods Life is Wisdom, Love, Light.

Love is Wisdom because it descends to Teach.
Love is Light because it disperses Darkness.

Peace

Ok, back again.

Can’t get back to page 2 for some reason but once again, since people are fussing about ‘apparitions’ being a squiffy site, please check catholic.net and search for Our Lady of Akita and in a 1999 article you will see it listed under approved apparitions. Catholic.net is a pretty reputable site and don’t just take my word for it–check out Catholic Culture’s reviews and note they give it the Green Light for fidelity.

Ok?

Then if we can hopefully move on from debating whether or not the apparition is approved. . . and may I just add parenthetically that a lot of ‘things in Catholic teaching’ are not noted on the Vatican web site, or even EWTN or CA, but that doesn’t make them ‘unimportant’. . .and concentrate on discussing the messages without trying to shoot them down from the get go.

IOW, if you don’t want to believe (and you know you don’t HAVE to), and you’ve already let the world know you don’t have to, then either stay OUT of the discussion altogether or actually DISCUSS what was said at the apparitions. It would be nice if people would stop trying to close down any kind of dialogue altogether by either dismissing anything said with which you don’t agree as ‘opinion’ and somehow not seeming to notice that what you are doing in your dismissal is just as much an opinion itself, or by constant nitpicking, digressions, and above all, personal comments of less-than-charitable origin, no matter how one feels about the subject under discussion.

Now I need to go start tonight’s dinner but I hope when I come back later I’ll actually see some discussion for a change. . .😃

When Sr. Agnes approached the statue, she said, “I suddenly felt that the wooden statue came to life and was about to speak to me . . . She was bathed in a brilliant light . . . and at the same moment a voice of indescribable beauty struck my totally deaf ears.” Our Lady told her: “. . . Your deafness will be healed . . .” She then recited with Sr. Agnes the community prayer that had been composed by Bishop Ito. At the words “Jesus present in the Eucharist,” Mary instructed, “From now on, you will add TRULY.” Together with the Angel who again appeared, the three voices recited a consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, TRULY present in the Holy Eucharist. Before disappearing, Our Lady asked that Sr. Agnes “pray very much for the Pope, bishops and priests . . .”

Yet IF the Vatican/Church valued them so highly wouldn’t it be reasonable to find at least a link to an official list?
Ahhh… but The Church does. I suggest you look into the archives of pronouncements from the CDF concerning such. In this case, go into the archives back to 1988 when Cdl Ratzinger was the Prefect, and read his pronouncemnt concerning Akita.

While you’re at it, you may want to read up on some of the acclaimations from various Popes and Saints concerning Church approved Apparitions.

But anyhow, I simply cannot MAKE you recognize the obvious concerning Marian Apparitions, Church approved or otherwise.

But EM, for the life of me, I cannot fathom as to why you are trying ***SO HARD ***to turn people away from the beauty and deep spirituality of Marina Apparitions. There simply has to be a reason as to why you are spending so much time and effort speaking ill of why Christ has sent His Holy Mother to us.

Where does the Church teach that a Catholic cannot deny or opt to not believe any apparition - including approved ones?
Like I stated before, I can’t make you recognize the obvious. But I ask you to look at what Cdl Ratzinger said concerning Akita (just as a for instance). Did he not say that Akita was difinitivly judged as being reliable and worthy of belief? Of course he did. Hence, The Church is recognizing that Christ HAS sent His Holy Mother to us. That’s really not that hard to figure out.

Has not Holy Mother the Church always stated that Public Revalation is the only requirement for Salvation, but Private Revalation is God STILL speaking to us? Of course The Church has.

You spoke of Catholics NOT being allowed to disbelieve in any (or all) private revelation which is NOT true and you have not proved otherwise.

“Worthy of belief” rating does not change this fact.

Did the then Card. Ratzinger say that there was any kind of penalty for not believing in what happened at Akita?

“Worthy of belief” has NO bearing on any kind of required belief but is an assurance that IF one does believe it is safe and nothing contradictory to Public Revelation is there.

Hi Caveman, thanks for the info, but I’m having a little difficulty navigating, could you provide some links for easier locating?

Hi Eilish Maura, “Worthy of belief” is the most the Church can apply to any apparition. I spoke to a Priest Theologian on this topic, who said that there is no sin in not accepting or placing one’s belief in a Private Revelation that the Church deemed “worthy of belief”, but in some cases it may imprudent to do so.

Keep up the good Scouting ministry. The link I provided you to my son Sean’s Pinewood Derby site was lost when the thread was deleted. If you click on the picture of the cars in the center, it shows the construction:

FINAL WARNING:
I am disappointed to see that this thread is - once again - going absolutely nowhere and is only serving to exacerbate the bickering that occurred on the other Akita threads.

If this continues, this thread too will be Closed and no further discussion on Our Lady of Akita will take place for some time in the Spirituality Forum.

When Sr. Agnes approached the statue, she said, “I suddenly felt that the wooden statue came to life and was about to speak to me . . . She was bathed in a brilliant light . . . and at the same moment a voice of indescribable beauty struck my totally deaf ears.” Our Lady told her: “. . . Your deafness will be healed . . .”

And her deafness was healed and she had many, many witnesses to this! Thank you Mary!

She then recited with Sr. Agnes the community prayer that had been composed by Bishop Ito. At the words “Jesus present in the Eucharist,” Mary instructed, “From now on, you will add TRULY.”

This devotion has spread so much like wildfire. And I do not doubt that Our Lady had a hand in it. These words are a confirmation to Our Lady of Fatima’s and the angels’ words when she appeared there. Now, again and again, we see a proliferation of the fact that Jesus is TRULY present in the Eucharist. We have many saintly people who are continually helping us to realize that. Fr Groeschel, Fr Corapi, Sr Briege, Mother Angelica, etc, etc. Thank you Lord for shaking us out of our complacency!

Together with the Angel who again appeared, the three voices recited a consecration to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, TRULY present in the Holy Eucharist. Before disappearing, Our Lady asked that Sr. Agnes “pray very much for the Pope, bishops and priests . . .”

And there are many ministries who minister to our priests and bishops, and intercede for the. I try to remain faithful to this. If I cannot get to the internet to do it here, I listen to Fr Kevin Scallon and Dana on their rosary for the intercession of priests and bishops on my MP3 and recite it with them. Thank you Lord for our priests…what would we without them?

Catholic Culture
Since then, although there have been certainly hundreds, and probably thousands, of reported apparitions, apart from Akita, in Japan, and Betania, in Venezuela, both dating from the 1970s, which do seem to have received some support from their respective initial local bishops but have not really assumed any great status in the Church, we are left with nothing comparable to the great apparitions of the past — and particularly to Lourdes or Fatima. And even in the cases of Akita and Betania, there is room for doubt as to just how binding the decisions made by their local bishops really are. In a slightly different domain, the events at Syracuse in 1953 involved lacrymations from a plaster model of the Virgin Mary, and seem to have been authentic.
Still looking for verification that this has full Church approval.

Hi Adrift, Caveman wrote that there is something in the archives of pronouncements from the CDF, from 1988 when Cardinal Ratzinger was the Prefect. There should be a pronouncement concerning Akita. I wasn’t getting anywhere, but I asked him to provide some links.

Hi Shoshana,

Thanks, I found this site to be very informative:

I hope he can provide a link. I went there and found nothing.😦

If it helps, this link to a 1999 article from catholic.net (which is a reputable web site I believe 🙂 ) does list Our Lady of Akita as one of the approved Marian apparitions (scroll down) along with Fatima and more well known (and some other lesser known) apparitions. . .and it gives some good reasons why knowledge of the messages can be important to us as individuals. Certainly it appears John Paul 2 thought these private revelations could be helpful to many. catholic.net/rcc/Periodicals/Faith/may-june99/Apparitions.html

Of course, no one is obliged to have a devotion to Our Lady of Akita or Our Lady of Fatima, or to ‘know’ about them. . .but one also has to consider that what that means is that one can say, “I don’t really know or care to know about XX Marian apparition” but one cannot say, "I don’t accept it or anything about it."

Since the Church has judged the apparitions ‘worthy of belief’ and containing nothing against Catholic teaching, rejection of the teachings simply on the basis that "they’re private revelation so they have no value’ is just plain wrong.

So many people can say that they don’t care to know the mesages of Fatima or Akita. I can’t call them** wrong** but there’s a provisio–

Provided the people who do not want to know or accept anything from “private revelation” are following and fully accepting ‘public revelation’, they are absolutely in line with Church teachings.

But this contradicts your first sentence. **So which is it: Do we have to accept these things - or no ? **

**If it is said one must accept it, that is the reverse of what has been said in the past about these things; & that is implied at the end of that sentence. It implies that public revelation, far from being ended, is continuing; which is a Mormon position 😦 **

**That issue needs to be faced: it’s all very well claiming private revelations are just that, private - but if they are being promoted as things all of us must heed, how are they not being treated as public in reality, & so, how are they not functioning as a “third testament” ? How does that not nullify the Church’s assertion that public revelation is over & closed 😦 ? To say we must heed Akita (or others), is to give the writings that arise from them the status of canonical literature. Which is horrible
However, one cannot make the mistake of assuming that because something is mentioned in a ‘private’ revelation’, that it is only to be ‘employed’ by those who believe in the private revelation.

Except that the position rejected here is that which Father Poulain supported in his book dealing with these things. When did the teaching change, to saying all Catholics had an obligation to employ what is said in in private revelations ?

The revelations all call, for example, for prayer, and penance. These are things which we are all called to in public revelation as well, not only in private revelation. So to say that, "just because a Marian apparition spoke of having to do prayer and penance doesn’t mean that I have to do it, because apparitions are private revelations and I don’t have to believe’ would be specious reasoning, and dangerous as well.

**That does not show that the alleged apparition that is alleged to say that, is trustworthy or genuine. Visions & suchlike are not sources of teaching - the Teaching Church, is. In no way is a vision (or whatever) from God merely because it does not contradict Catholic teaching - even delusions of satan (especially these) contain good. **

**If people need visions to remind them to pray, something is very “off” - we have a thousand things to remond us of that, without needing to be reminded by any supposed apparition; prayer is one of the most basic acts of religion there is. **

Yeah… the Akita Warnings sure can be disconcerting and scary to many. Quick… someone notify Christ that “nothing good” can come about of Him sending His mother to us with warnings.

What was Jesus thinking?
I said this thread, not the “Akita warnings”. The supposed apparition doesn’t scare me at all.

Did the then Card. Ratzinger say that there was any kind of penalty for not believing in what happened at Akita?
Are you serious? Do you ***REALLY ***expect the Prefect for the CDF to waste his time and state “oh, by the way, even though I officially declare that Mary **REALLY DID **appear at Akita, and ergo, it was her Son, Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ who sent her… and I declare this to be worthy of belief for the entire Church… and I speak on behalf of The Holy Father… what I declare is worthy only if **YOU THE INDIVIDUAL **consider it worthy of YOU.”

Seriously, is that how you interpret the pronouncement in 1988 of Cardinal Ratzinger?

Does Cdl Ratzinger have to point out the painfully obvious?
“Worthy of belief” has NO bearing on any kind of required belief but is an assurance that IF one does believe it is safe and nothing contradictory to Public Revelation is there.
Yeah… you’re right. Unless something has the official bulla of the pope on it, it just isn’t so. I guess all those prefects of all those congregations really don’t speak on behalf of The Pontiff in matters that they have been directly placed responsible for.

Oh, and unless there’s an official Vatican website on a particular topic, it’s really not all that important.

I said this thread, not the “Akita warnings”.
You can’t make it a force for good? Is it easier to throw up your hands and say “nothing good can come about because of this!!”?

Well, you’ve already given the answer to that
The supposed apparition doesn’t scare me at all.
Don’t forget the supposed approvals given by the supposed Bishop in Japan, and the supposed Cardinal in Rome. Supposedly.

The second message of Our Lady came on August 3, 1973, a First Friday, when the heavenly voice from the statue warned:
". . . Many men in this world afflict the Lord . . . In order that the world might know His anger, the Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great chastisement on all mankind . . . I have prevented the coming of calamities by offering Him the sufferings of the Son on the Cross, His Precious Blood and beloved souls who console Him forming a cohort of victim souls. Prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices can soften the Father’s anger . . . know that you must be fastened to the Cross with three nails. These three nails are poverty, chastity and obedience. Of the three, obedience is the foundation . . .
