In the context of the OP the parts which correspond to the words of Christ:On the contrary it is evident that not all the books in the Old Testament are historical whereas the New contains works which are based on eye-witness accounts of events (apart from Revelation). The teaching of Jesus that God is a loving Father is the fundamental criterion of what is true or misguided.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”
Anything else is of less importance than His message of love and irrelevant to the topic of free will and suffering.
