You guys asked for it. Here is a the church of St.FLorian where I go for confession.

I love St. Florian’s we went once for Easter Sunday it is sooo beautiful. But we did end up at the Polish Mass so I had alot of time to admire the art and beauty of your church!:tiphat:

No way is that a tabernacle behind the altar! The last time I saw that in a Parish was in Detroit.

I really don’t think I can describe the beauty of our parish’s sanctuary, not with my own words at least. So, since a picture is “Worth a thousand words”, here is a picture:

*This *art mojor’s opinion is that this “crucifix” belongs in a museum… it doesn’t go with the architicture. I am strongly opposed to wrecking our architectual treasures! Even in a modern church, I feel a more traditional crucifix is more effective in reminding us of the sacrifice. I like this piece for a contemporary library on a College Campus… it would look good in the Llibrary at the University of Dayton! I think the part that bothers me the most is that the crucifix seems like an afterthought… I didn’t even notice it until someone mentioned “the crucifix” and I wonderered where it was. I thought it was a giant crown of thorns. One is drawn to the spikey mess (which by the way doesn’t look much like heaven) than Jesus. Maybe it’s just the angle and it is more noticable in “real life” It was nice of someone to donate it… maybe it could be replaced with something that goes better with the architecture and this could move to a parish center… or you could donate it to UD??? 🙂 My hometown parish is trying to recover from a “wreckovation” which took place from the early 70s-80’s.

I just noticed the REALLY long spike that comes from behind Jesus and juts down way below… what’s up with that?

PS… We can never have too much art… but we can sometimes have too much artist.

perfectly gorgeous! The civilian parish we often attend has a Giant stained glass window of a crucifix… much like this but the crucifix is stained glass part of teh window.

My parish has a Joseph statue, a Mary statue and the stations of the cross. The crucifix is the processional one. It’s truly bare bones and empty. But they like to call it “monastic simplicity”. I think that’s a code word for practically devoid of any traces of our Catholic heritage.

Sometimes I feel sad when I come home after mass and see my own well appointed home and yet our king’s home looks poverty stricken.

In Christ,
Scarlet
