In another thread, I was surprised by something from the Baltimore Catechism that stated the twelve apostles were chosen from among the seventy-two disciples. I was surprised because in the Bible the choosing of the seventy-two follows the appointing of the twelve. Furthermore, at least two of the apostles are chosen directly as apostles. Unfortunately, the BC does not include any references. Does anyone have any idea if this was just an error or opinion that was included? Is there any Church teaching on this? I noticed the current catechism does not make such a statement.
