Dear People,
Do any of you know how the date of the feast of the Baptism of Our Lord decided upon every year? It seems that it is switched every year…if so…How is it decided upon?
Thank you…

In the Traditional/EF Calendar (1962), the Commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord occurs every year on January 13. This year it is omitted because the Feast of the Holy Family (Sunday after Epiphany) occurs on January 13 and so replaces it.

In the NO/OF calendar there are three possibilities:
    • Where Epiphany is observed on the 6th of January, the Baptism of the Lord is observed on the Sunday after.
    • Where Epiphany is observed on Sunday between January 2-8
    :
    • If the date of the Sunday is Jan 2-6, then Baptism of the Lord is observed on the next Sunday.
    • If the date of the Sunday is Jan 7/8, then Baptism of the Lord is observed on the following Monday (Jan 8/9)

                                    +
Thank you so much for the information…I have been wondering about this for some time, but could not find the answer to it…
