Not a mention of the beatific vision. It was all about friends, comfort and earthy type comforts.

By the way, did she ask anybody if there is “soft focus” in Heaven? I would think that a lack of favorable lighting conditions would be a deal-breaker for her, but that is merely speculation…
LOL!
I heard it advertised but being that it was Baba Wawa, I just could not watch. I knew she’d ask poorly thought out, irrelevent questions and rather than be annoyed (as I KNEW I would be), I opted out.

BABA WAWA :rotfl: :rotfl: I LOVE it.

One of them said that Heaven is having anything we want to eat, the most comfortable chair, the best servants, all the sex we want  Puleeaase, give me a break.

Last night there was a 2 hour special hosted by Barbara Walters on heaven and what people and world religious leaders believe and teach about it. Did you watch it? I was left with these impressions. That no matter what your religious or philosophical beliefs, everyone will be in heaven after death, if they are a loving and compassionate person to others around them. At least this is the premise I got from the TV telecast.
Code:
Christian leaders were questioned by Barbara Walters and slighted as being to "narrow minded" in holding to the belief that one MUST be born again to be able to enter heaven. So Christian hosts who were questioned, were made to look bigoted or narrow minded. Little was ever said about just WHAT should we base our authority about the afterlife and one's hope of heaven on? The bible was never mentioned as God's authority for stating what one must do to enter heaven. Miss Walters carefully avoided that.

But all in all, I was really amazed on how people view heaven and what there eternal destiny is. Most believe, just living a good life and being compassionate for one another will be sufficient. Even a Catholic bishop so much as stated this in in his interview. Did any of you see this show? What is your opinion?

I didn’t watch the show.
The previews of it, shown earlier in the evening,
were nauseating enough for me to not watch it.
Asking the worldly about the afterlife is like
asking a 5 year old to describe the theory of relativity.

Ok I watched the full 2 hours.

What is with the Evangelical with the strange lips? starbulletin.com/2005/04/09/features/art1c.jpg Is he a relative to the Fred Flintstone family? I could barely stand to look at him let alone listen to him. Ok this sounds uncharitable but there was something about his eyes and lips that gave me the creeps…he seemed shifty.

The B. Walters special was just what I expected it to be…very strange indeed.
Your comment is at least uncharitable. Frankly, it’s just plain mean. Do you think Jesus is sitting up in going contemplative made fun of an evangelical: Way the Go!?

I was a little uncertain about what I was saw at the time but now I can articulate better my feelings.

It was a combination of his facial characteristics, facial movements and context of what he was saying that gave me the heebegeebees. If he toned down his extreme facial expressions and perhaps was silent I would not have noticed his facial structure extremes as much…or maybe I would not have noticed it at all.
God gave me eyes to see and this is what I saw. I know this might sound uncharitable to some but this guy I am referring to really got to me…maybe it was jiust a bad camera angle or bad lighting that made the situation worse.

Did anyone else notice all the different silk suits B. Walter was wearing in each interview? Well she toned it down for the prison cut by wearing a large shirt over blue pants. And did anyone notice where the center of the flower rested on the upper right side of her blue floral dress?

no kidding.
but we must admit that must have had the poor Dali Lama going …look…he reciprocated her kiss with a nose kiss! yuck!

He gave me the hebegeebees too.

Who was the guy that said Heaven will be having sex all the time, having the best servants and the most comfortable chair? I thought that was veeeeery strange.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, founder of the American Society for Muslim Advancement, tells Walters he believes heaven is indeed a physical place, but getting there depends on your behavior in this life. “The real life is the next life … and based upon how we live this life, it determines where we shall be in the next. We are told we will be in comfortable homes, reclining on silk couches … so we’re given the delights of sex, the delights of wine, the delights of food with all of their positive things without their negative aspects.”
From ABC News

The drumroll goes out to Ellen Johnson, president of the American Atheists
“Heaven doesn’t exist, hell doesn’t exist. We weren’t alive before we were born and we’re not going to exist after we die. I’m not happy about the fact that that’s the end of life, but I can accept that and make my life more fulfilling now, because this is the only chance I have,” she tells Walters.
I had to laugh when B. Walters asked Johnson " Isn’t that depressing?":rotfl:

I’m soooooo glad that I’m a Catholic.
Yes! This is exactly what I thought when the ‘special’ was over! I did not watch it in hopes of discovering something new.

I thought I was in love with my Church before the show! What I discovered was that I was even more in love with Catholicism after the show!
