In our previous thread: The Basic Philosophy Series 101-1: What is philosophy and how is it done?, there is a quote from the Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy a section of which is the following:

“Those wanting a sense of what a good definition of ‘philosophy’ must encompass might fruitfully consider how one can define the concerns central to a number of major philosophers representing different periods, styles of philosophy, and culture.”

In this thread, we can introduce the philosophers and their ideas. Let’s get acquainted with them. **Do you have a favorite philosopher? Is there a philosopher whose thoughts you understand well and whose understanding you wish to share here? If you do not know much about a philosopher, pick one, do a little research and post the information here. Go ahead, make it your own. **
