Rev. 13 is the only chapter in Revelation that refers to the false prophet as a beast.
And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
He is actually called the *false prophet *in Rev. 19:20.
And the beast was taken, and with him the* false prophet **that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
But when you compare Rev. 13:14 and Rev. 19:20 it’s clear that the two horned beast and the false prophet are the same person.
13:14 *And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those *miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; *saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Rev.19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought* miracles **before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that **worshipped **his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
From all these verses we get clues as to what the religion of the beast is like. Protestant’s overhelmingly believe that the religion symbolized here is Catholicism. I believe it is Islam.
Here’s why.
The second beast has the appearance of a lamb, but his words come from the dragon (Rev. 13:11). Lamb is a symbol for Christ. This is symbolic of a false messiah who has an appearance of a lamb (Messiah), but his words actually come from the dragon…the devil.
This is a perfect picture of Islam. Islam looks like a timid peaceful religion to some, but the words of Muslim’s like bin laden and Ahmadinijad and a host of others would prove otherwise. The false Islamic messiah, otherwise known as the Muslim jesus, will have a lamb like peaceful disposition just like bin Laden does. His inspirational words of death and destruction are from the dragon himself. These verse are figurative of counterfeit christianity.
¶And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
The two horns…Sunni and Shia…every country in theArab Muslim world is dominated by one or the other…of the two major sects of Islam. I believe that’s what they represent.
Rev. 13:12 *And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.
Rev. 13:15 *And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

The Greek word for worship used in the book of Revelation is proskuneo (4352) which literally means to bow down before someone. The Complete Word Study Dictionary says,
In the NT, generally, to do reverence or homage to someone, usually by kneeling or prostrating oneself before him. (CWD)
Every instance of the word “worship” in the book of Revelation is proskuneo. Bowing before someone was considered a form of worship and the Greek word proskuneo refers to this form of worship. What this points to in Revelation 13 is the bowing toward Mecca that Muslims do five times every day. John could have used one of several different Greek words such as “sebomai” (4576) which means,
To revere, stressing the feeling of awe or devotion, to worship religiously. To stand in awe of someone, to reverence, venerate, worship.
“Sebomai” appears several times in the New Testament, such as in Matt. 15:9, Mark 7:7, and five times in Acts.
