Msgr. Charles Pope, of the Archdiocease of Washington D.C. has written an interesting reflection on the end times and he wonders if we are now within the " outer boundries " of the end times. He points to a number of signs as the rather sudden rejection of faith, the rejection of morality world wide, etc. which may point to the end.

One hundred generations have come and gone since our LORD’s day.

In that time, His coming has been looked for over 101 times.

I wouldn’t expect too much.

“So here we are in the midst of a time of rebellion and deep delusion, one that may be serious enough to usher in the final stages. Stay sober, my friends. I do not usually predict the end, but when I do, I look to texts like these, which show the outer bands of a coming storm.”
An interesting article. My own observations of the rapidly deteriorating conditions of society have led me to expect social chaos and perhaps civilizational breakdown, followed ultimately by renewal. But one never knows.

Acts 1:7 - 'He replied: “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by His own authority.”

I do believe it’s the beginning of end of the Pax Americana, the dominance of Western Civilization, and the lack of persecution Christianity has enjoyed in most of the world. But the end of the world? I doubt it.

Pax Christi.

We’re probably getting close, I believe.

Pray, repent, and offer sacrifices.

Penance! Penance! Penance!

God help us.

Obviously we can’t say for sure and Christ specifically told us not to try and figure it out, but we do know then end won’t come until the Christians themselves apostatize. If you look at the Anglican Church and many other Christian groups it certainly seems that may be begun.

By the very nature of the event, all predictions of the end times are bound to be wrong, except for the last one. The only thing we know for sure is that at some point in human history, the end times will occur.

I’ll do what I’ve always done: I won’t rule it out, nor will I go full Harold Camping. It will happen when it happens.

Ever since the coming of Our Lord in the flesh, there has always been turmoil, even extreme.

I dont think there is anything that is any more pointing towards the His coming again than there was 500 years, 1000 years 1500 years ago.

Linusthe2nd, on the off chance that you are really serious, I would suggest that you read from these two links. These gentlemen seem to be very informative in this area.

And as to it being the “End of the World,” you are correct, it won’t be, but it will shortly be the end of life as we have known it and will be pretty rough for awhile. Many will suffer, and many will die. Look them up and see what they have to say. All of their writings are pertinent to this subject.

Whether or not we are approaching The End, the social breakdown brought on by the breakdown of marriage and family, along with the widespread rejection of religious Faith, seems to have put us on an accelerating course toward social chaos and perhaps social collapse. Such chaos is usually followed by widespread suffering and perhaps the emergence of tyranny.

Yes, but as unlikely as it sounds the very hard times that we are headed for could be the source of redemption for many people.

All the technological marvels that people are surrounded with 24/7 such as those ever ready “Smart Phones” etc. all of this is going to cease to exist
along with the electricity that we will no longer have. Simply living through each day will be a struggle, maybe we will be able to scrounge enough food, but maybe not every single day.

During these times, the people who will survive will be the ones who are praying every breath, taking the next right step, and then encouraging others. That is all we have to remember. God will have our attention in a way that many have never experienced. Believe it or not, God is allowing all of this to happen so that we have that one last chance to really turn to Him before it IS the end. But, as we said before, this that is coming is NOT the end. Instead it is a time of peace that will begin by our being rescued by Our Lady. Hopefully, during the period of time that will follow, those who survive will at last have truly come to the realization of what it really is to live for the Lord.

It will be after this second chance, that the end will finally come.

Msgr. Pope does a service touching on the topic of eschatology with a sense of reason and reverence for the Word.

One way to look at this, we have been incredibly blessed to be able to approach Jesus in our broken sinfulness and He has simply offered healing - as a physician does. The time will come when we approach Him the Judge. The less we understand God and the more we lack trust…the darker the thought.

It reminds me something my folks often uttered, ‘live everyday as if it’s your last.’

interesting. They outer bands of a coming storm?

Glenn Beck. Is that you!?

A generation or two ago, the concept of same sex marriage was laughable. How so many people have come to accept this obvious absurdity as a civil right is a mystery. But absurd is how so much of modern “morality” can be described. I have felt for a while now that we’re in the midst of some grand and epic apostasy. Charles Pope’s essay brings context and clarity.
