Eucharistic adoration is the very best devotion in the Catholic church.

Is this not a powerful statement?

I don’t know the details, but Eucharistic adoration as we know it today seems to have been developed in the middle ages – IOW, it was not an apostolic tradition (tell me if I’m wrong).

Although it is a good devotion and is recommended by a priest, we can worship God with our every breath any place we happen to be. Sure, Eucharistic devotion focuses on the faith in the Eucharist as instituted by our Lord. It is a worship of the Trinity and, if you think about it, the highest regard for the Word of God in scripture.

I’d like to read that statement in it’s original context, and an not sure why, you, needed to mention the author is FSSP, as that doesn’t really lend to, or detract from, his statement.

The “best” devotion is subjective to a person’s abilities, station, vocation, location, and calling. Read “Our Lady’s Juggler”

for a clearer illustration of that point.

Actually, the “best” devotion is to remain in a state of grace to be worthy to receive Him. This comprises both a Martha practicality and a Mary attitude.

The Word of God is just that His Word, His Teaching, His thoughts, etc.
You cannot Worship the Bible. But as Catholics we do, can and should adore the Lord in the Eucharist.

Amen.

Pax Christi!

The best devotion, like the best translation of Scripture, is one that you make a part of your life.

But Eucharistic Adoration certainly must be the most powerful of devotions, in that our Lord is physically present.

God bless.

I don’t see Eucharistic Adoration as a devotion.

Devotions are external practices of piety by which our faith and devotion to God finds expression. Sometimes there is no expression in an adoration chapel - just kneeling and adoring Jesus at 2:30 AM is often expressionless, hidden to the world, known only to God.

Adoration is much more than just a devotion. Adoration is prayer in the presence of our Lord and Savior who can see and hear us. Adoration is prayer, and is the highest form of worship, second only to the Mass. Everyone is called to Eucharistic Adoration.

And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” (Luke 2:49)

I don’t feel that it is an optional devotion for anyone. If it is available then you need to be going and praying, adoring - telling Jesus that you love Him - and speaking to Jesus as if he himself were right next to you, because he is. That doesn’t happen in other devotions.

Saint Alphonsus Liquori expressed:
Of all devotions, that of adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the greatest after the sacraments, the one dearest to God and the one most helpful to us.
