The Bible has powerful high level teachings that are most fully understood in the context of the Church. The Catholic Church has handed on the correct understanding of the Scriptures from the original apostolic community that was in turn sent by Jesus. This is to the glory of God. The Holy Spirit who is the helper that Jesus promised guided the apostles and has always guided the apostolic Church.
 
And in other news, the sun will again rise tomorrow.

Hi. Pope John Paul II wrote The Splendor of the Truth.

See the second paragraph of Section 109:

This document by the former pope is addessing dissent but the above reference relates to the point of this thread. There is a splendor of the truth of Scripture. Some may be aware of this, true, but some may benefit from a reminder and some may not be aware of this splendor.

Yes, just like verses in the Bible have a context and can be misunderstood outside of that context, the Bible itself has a context, and can be and is misunderstood outside of that context. The context is of course the Church. Those who approach Scripture from outside the Church take it out of context and misunderstand it.

Scripture was written by believers, to believers, and for believers. It was written to those who were already part of the Church (or people of God); not to someone picking up a Gideon bible in the isolation of a motel room.

Of course the message of the Gospel is for everybody. But Scripture itself is for the Church.
