What you do with the wealth and how you treat people without it-most importantly. Do you treat people equally- if your a landowner- do you treat your tenants well- ? Do you cheat them in any way? As it was in the past- so it is today. Do we treat people with equality?Does their poverty make them victims of the whims of society? How do we correct it?

Why are we so obsessed and brainwashed with wealth and worldly possessions? They are all temporary, fleeting and unsatisfying.
Listen to Jesus speaking to you in your heart. The only truly rewarding things are those which require selfless sacrifice and which reflect Jesus’ eternal perfection and self giving love.
When I was 6, I wanted a drum set. It was so important to me that everything else took a back seat. I would have given anything for that drum set. How sad.
There have been many rich men throughout the history of the human race. None of them could keep their riches when they died.
Do not focus on the temporary, short term pleasures of this life when Jesus offers an eternity of perfect love in the presence of God.

By the mere fact that you can post on this website shows you own a computer or you’re able to at least travel back and forth between your home and someone else’s computer. IOW: if you or someone else didn’t own a possession, i.e. computer, you wouldn’t be here talking about the morality of owning possessions.

I’ve always thought the point was that the wealthy young man keeps pressuring Jesus-- How do I get to heaven? Keep the commandments. Which commandments? Honor your parents, love your neighbor… I already do that. What else should I do?
He wants more, more, more; but isn’t willing to take the next step.
In a similar way, we want to be Holy, but few of us are called to life in the religious orders, where we are called to give up everything.
I think this meaning would be clear if practically the next thing out of Christ’s mouth weren’t the whole ‘eye of a needle’ remark, which pretty is chilling.
But what does that mean, really? Only that it’s all up to God, that no one can get in without his help. Surely that isn’t much of a surprise.
Our Lord doesn’t say ‘The rich man is a camel, the middle class person is like a heavy thread, and the poor man is a very tiny grain of sand’-- that would really be scary, since it would indicate that the poor can go pouring through by their very nature. But we know that even the poor need God’s grace.
