Just find all of the contradicting verses in the Bible and you will then discover your corrupted passages.
There aren’t any. It is the simplistic, literalistic, and wooden reading of the respective texts that percieves contradictions and errors in the Bible.

For instance, in SOS 2:12 there’s the phrase “the voice of the turtle was heard in the land.” To the critics this looks like an obvious error. But, if one looks up the Hebrew wording one finds that the translated as “turtle” means “turtle-dove.” Secondly, if one looks up the word “turtle” in the OED one finds that Shakespeare has line “the cooing of turtles that will never part.” The word “turtle” was being used as a metaphor for “turtle-dove” when the KJV was being made.

Now this was the most basic work/research that needed to be done and yet none of the critics in over 20 years had/has ever done it. So, I figure if they screw up on something as simple as this why should I trust them on the more complex? In fact, why should I trust them at all?

I also learned that one cannot think any better or clearer than one can read.

II Kings 24:8
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he became King and he reigned three months in Jerusalem
II Chronicles 36:9
Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem
This is acknowledged to be a scribal error. It turns out that one cannot copy more than 20 lines in one sitting without screwing up. No big deal and long ways from making it out like the whole Bible is corrupt in the negative and pejorative sense of the word.

Muslims hold that it is corrupt when it shows Mohammed to be wrong or sinful, it is acceptable when it agrees with them.

My seven year old acts the same way.

Anti-Christians hold that it is wrong or fictional when it holds them as sinners. Any port in a storm

some maintain that when Jehoiachin was eight years old, his father made him coregent so that he could be trained in the responsibilities of leading a kingdom. Jehoiachin then became officially a king at the age of eighteen, upon his father’s death.

It generally refers to changes or alterations to the original text that occur during the transmission… copying, translating, etc, both deliberate and unintentional.
Doesn’t every document ever transcribed by hand risk that?

People seem to think that the Bible was written with the meticulous specificity of an aircraft engine maintenance manual.

Who are these “some”?
i don’t have names but that’s something i read. Maybe refering to Jewish commentaries might help. If it were a scribal error, why isn’t it corrected in your opinion?

In latter days they developed an attitude of leaving the text the way it was handed down to them. The scribal error was made in the previous history fo the text.

yes i read that fear of changing anything lead some scribes to keep things as they are.

on a side note, it is very hard for me to find Jewish commentaries on google. It’s always Christian sites so if one wanted to hear a Jewish commentary , is there a link or something?

I knew i would get an answer like this to begin with… lol
The reason you wont point them out is because you can find any corrupt scripture in the bible.
next…

I posted it because allischalmers incorrectly claimed that there were no contradictions. Obviously that is incorrect.

Of course. I am not complaining about the Bible, just the posters incorrect claim.

There are those that think even the transmission - copying and translation was perfect.

but this isn’t called a contradiction since one does not contradict the other.

The contradiction topic used by Muslims is a very weak topic since you can find contradictions in any book if you don’t have a context and here we are talking about a Book written by over 40 authors (?), within a long period of time, to different audiences and situations. the Quran, supposedly written by one author within ony 23 years for Arabs has its good share of contradictions.

:aok: That sounds logical to me.

Bearing in mind this poignant reminder from BibleGateway.com

((The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do NOT have Mark 16:9-20.))

… then which of the following Biblical verses is more likely to be true?

EITHER

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to ALL creation. … Mark 16:15

OR

"I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel." … (Matthew 15:24)

and also

"These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: 'Do NOT go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel." … (Matthew 10:5-6)

OR

… perhaps Christians are saying that there is NO contradiction between the above Biblical verses found in Mark and Matthew?

AS usual, you quote out of context and out of order. The Bible, unlike the Qur’an, has things in a chronological order. Jesus’s first instruction was to save Isreal. After that part was begun, the rest of the world has a shot. The only contradiction is that you refuse to see logically why Christianity is superior to Islam

Look in* translations *of your Qu’ran, I will bet there are minor “contradictions” as well.

[an-Nisa’ 4:82] Do they not consider the Qur’an (with care)? Had it been from other Than God, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy.

[Yunus 10:64] Theirs are good tidings in the life of the world and in the Hereafter - There is no changing the Words of Allah - that is the Supreme Triumph.
v.
[an-Nahl 16:101] And when We put a revelation in place of (another) revelation, - and Allah knoweth best what He revealeth- they say: Lo! thou art but inventing. Most of them know not.

[al-Kahf 18:27] And recite that which hath been revealed unto thee of the Scripture of thy Lord. There is none who can change His words, and thou wilt find no refuge beside Him.
v.
[al-Baqarah 2:106] Nothing of our revelation (even a single verse) do we abrogate or cause be forgotten, but we bring (in place) one better or the like thereof. Knowest thou not that Allah is Able to do all things ?

[al-Hijr 15:9] Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian.
v.
[ar-Ra`d 13:39] Allah effaceth what He will, and establisheth (what He will), and with Him is the source of ordinance.

[as-Sajdah 32:5] He directeth the ordinance from the heaven unto the earth; then it ascendeth unto Him in a Day, whereof the measure is a thousand years of that ye reckon.
v.
[al-Ma`arij 70:4] (Whereby) the angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day whereof the span is fifty thousand years.

I would say that the difference between “Go into all the world and preach the good news to ALL creation.” and “These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: 'Do NOT go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.” is NOT at all minor.

On the contrary, I would say that is a very MAJOR contradiction… in fact, as far as Biblical contradictions go, it is truly humungous in size and significance.

who did Muhammad preach to ? Arab bedouins right? Did he say the book is for his folks in Arabic language so that they understand? yes. Since humanity is not Arab bedoiuns, and since most of the people on our planet don’t know Arabic so they “won’t understand”, the conclusion is that Islam is a religion for Arabs.

What you are quoting in the NT was their first mission. Should it be to gentiles or Jews who awaited Him? They had to teach their brethren first and then spread the good new to everyone. Basic idea.
