I cannot stress how excellent Madonna House is. Sincerely, incredible. And I only know through second hand accounts. It’s a bigtime regret I have not going yet, and hopefully I can make my way there at some point to experience it for myself.

Is this the “Baroness” mentioned in Merton’s Seven Storey Mountain?

Yes, she is the Baroness Merton mentions in the “Seven Storey Mountain.” Merton once in fact worked at the Friendship House in Harlem which she established.He knew her personally. She has sometimes been called the Canadian Dorothy Day. Luckily years ago I met her for an hour at her Madonna House in Ontario.
