My son and I happened upon a YouTube page that summarizes each book of the Old Testament. This channel is called The Bible Project. Honestly, it’s very well done. One person narrates the story, while another person sketches out the story into picture form in hyper-fast-forward mode. A viewer can go to their website and download a free copy of the finalized sketches to review. While we watched the material covering the first five books of the OT, my son was completely glued to the screen. He wanted to watch several of the videos over and over so he could make sure he absorbed all the info.
I’ve searched for Catholic-based reviews of The Bible Project, but only found a transcript of a Q&A with the original founders of the site indicating they had no intention of producing videos covering the Deuterocanonical books (these guys are not Catholic). While this is a very impressive work, I’m curious if it is compatible with Catholic teaching. Initially, it appears to provide an objective overview of the OT story, but I can’t help but get the impression the author may build up to a not-so-Catholic conclusion when viewers reach the New Testament series.
Has anyone heard of this project and/or YouTube series? Good/Bad/Indifferent?
