While in Mass yesterday (Friday) I was listening to the first reading, which came from Acts, Chapter 15. If you recall, this was the council of Jerusalem where they were trying to determine if Gentiles needed to be circumcised. The council said, "No, we don’t need to circumcise Gentile converts. So Paul and Barnabus need to return to Anioch with this decision. As we got to the end of the reading, I almost laughed out loud when I considered the following verses:
Anyway, it was all I could do to keep a straight face throughout the Gospel and the Homily, for I couldn’t get this image out of my mind.
I bet they were “delighted”. I bet they were jumping for Joy, dancing in the streets, and killing the fatted calf!!!And so they were sent on their journey. Upon their arrival in Antioch they called the assembly together and delivered the letter. When the people read it, they were delighted with the exhortation.
Anyway, it was all I could do to keep a straight face throughout the Gospel and the Homily, for I couldn’t get this image out of my mind.
