I have been watching the blacklist and I think it’s great. James Spader is a good villain.
 
It’s a great show. The plot twists keep me on my toes. 🙂 I’m a longtime fan of James Spader’s acting, and for me, “Red” is the role he was born to play. I’ve seen him play the occasional good guy, but he’s just delicious as the villain.
 
I’m enjoying it as well. Classic action and so far doesn’t feature soft-core porn like so many series these days.

I have never seen him in anything, but I am impressed with his acting in this. I am curious to see where the relationship goes with Lizzie. How does he know her?
 
I think I just saw that the blacklist is on Netflix so I will have to check it out! In the meantime I have watched and loved the killing, happy valley, and true detective. I heard the americans is great as well!
 
Great show, it also doesn’t make a point of shoving soft (or hard) core porn in the viewers face as previously noted.

Spader is probably the best in his role as reddington. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Anyone notice a certain character looks a lot like Edward Snowden? I wonder if that was deliberate?

I had to check Wikipedia to see who that was and what he looked like. :o You’re right, though, he does look a lot like the Tom Keen character.
 
I’m currently working my way through Season 1. Has anyone noticed how often they use the phrase “Reach out” for making contact with their counterparts?

It’s about the only thing really irritating at the moment.

Glad to see the FBI agent is married and not just living with her fiance.
 
The acting–save for Spader–is universally poor. Elizabeth Gracen is the worst. The worst part is they try to prop up the terrible acting with competent bit players and guest stars–Alan Alda was particularly good–but inevitably kill them off.

The stories are repetitive, and after the first season, it becomes ever and more ludicrous. In season 2, they resort to ripping off Hannibal. They try for the group dynamic of NCIS, but it fails to take.

The characters, save for Red, are stupid. In one episode, the lead character is shown teaching a class on profiling. I wouldn’t trust her to teach a dog how to poop on newspaper. The leader of the unit continues to screw up and breach security, drop the ball, get people killed, etc. but is allowed to keep his job.

Highlander fan? 🙂 I did a double-take at the mention of Elizabeth Gracen and wondered how I’d missed her in the show! (The female lead character’s last name is Keen, FWIW.)

I’m not a big fan of the lead actress’ work in the series, but I’ll keep watching for Spader.

:ouch: Megan Boone is who I was thinking of. My bad. I don’t know where Elizabeth Gracen came from.

I love Spader, but eventually I got tired of watching him trying to milk a bull.

The first time I heard the term used that way was in NYPD Blue. They used it enough that I noticed it.

It was also the first time I heard the term “skell” (vagrant, con man, petty criminal), “step up” (do the right thing, as in “step up to the plate”), and “lost time” (for personal time off, I think).
