One of my co-workers (who is Pentecostal) was just telling me about this…
YouTube has a video where someone is asking people to deny the Holy Spirit. I checked it out and it is called The Blasphemy Challenge. It is some how connected to a movie, The God Who Wasn’t There, and to something called the “Rational Response Squad”.

What is our world coming to. I feel sick just thinking of how many people are falling into traps like this.
Has anyone else heard of this? I can’t get over how appaling it is!

That miserable SATANIST hiding behind the ATHEIST badge know as Penn Jillette is on there denying the Holy Spirit as well. I have flagged that video as well as the one where the other idiot is trying to burn a bible for 9 minutes but it WONT BURN! At one point after 5 minutes it catches fire and then dies out. He gives up - think he got the message? I have flagged that as well as HATE SPEECH, but YOUTUBE doesnt give a damn. I am always flagging attacks on Christianity, but nothing gets done. Wonder why theres no KORAN or Muslim attacks? Its more than likely YOUTUBE takes them down ASAP.

I thought about making a comment about it but I’m not a member of YouTube. I may join just to say something about it.

I also found out that there is an entire website “dedicated” to this. its www.theblasphemychallenge.com I think.

About the Bible burning, I didn’t see that one. But you’re right. You’d think people would learn!!

I also heard of this recently and was shocked (although nothing should shock me nowadays) to hear so many people denying the Holy Spirit. Many of them don’t believe in God obviously, but hopefully it won’t be held against them, once they realize, if ever, how wrong they are. I said the prayer of Jesus on the Cross, “Father forgive them, they know not what they do.”

Complain to Google, the company that owns You Tube. Hit them in the pocketbook. It is the only thing they understand.

Now he just put up a burn the Quran challenge. I flagged that as well. It will be interesting to see which gets taken down first - if any is taken down at all. I have personally flagged his bible video at least 5 times and its still there.

Also interesting to note: The bible took FOREVER to catch fire but would quickly die out until he gave up - the Quran caught fire in about 10 seconds, died out caught again, died and then burned continously. Wonder if that means anything?

I should metion that Youtube has many other blasphemous videos ranging from stuff against the Blessed Mother and the Pope etc…

Oh and I saw a little of that site that was linked but I feared going on and looking at it. I just feel very uncomfortable around stuff against the Holy Ghost.

In reparation I say…

Blessed be God and His Holy Name
Blessed Be Jesus Christ, true God and True Man
Blessed be the Holy Ghost the Paraclete

If anyone wants to comment on this video, I would suggest it. Maybe we can show these poor misguided fellows we aren’t the boogie man.

Actually the existence of this video makes atheist look bad.

I am a Christian but I attempt to be respectful of the beliefs of others. This is something that I do out of a sense of common deceny and respect for others.

The fact that a bunch of Atheist do not have the ability to peacefully exist with the religious beliefs of others makes atheisim seem intolerant and prejudiced.

Pretty much, yeah. There was another thread on it a while back; I think I called it ‘arrogant and pointless’ then, and it still is.

I heard about this some weeks ago from the Curt Jester.
Really, really sad…😦

They’re trying to do this because they think that blaspheming against the Holy Spirit invokes the ‘unforgivable sin’ mentioned in the Gospels.

I do wonder what would happen if we Christians suddenly appeared in front of a University and film a video damning and calling Charles Darwin, Karl Marx, and others bad names, try to burn any of their works in public, etc. We’ll be taken down and labeled as ‘Intolerant’ and ‘Bigoted’ and we will be arrested for ‘Hate Crime’ and such. We’ll be in front of the Newspapers and we’ll stir a massive controversy.

Another thing that gets me though is why do they only blaspheme and attack Christians. If they are really so brave and strong, why not just stop there?

Why not invoke the wrath of the Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Neo-Pagans, Wiccans and their gods by lampooning and mocking the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Allah and The Trimurti and using their names in vain? Why don’t they burn the Koran, the Vedas and the Sutras in public? Why stop at the Holy Trinity when you’ve got a multitude of gods to blaspheme?

May the most holy, most sacred Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in Heaven and on Earth, by all mankind, by the holy angels, and by all creatures.

Amen.

I didn’t watch it, nor do I intend to…

With that said, SOMEONE should do the SAME thing but in AFFIRMATION of the Trinity.

We should pray for these people. There are verses in the bible that indicate that God allows a person’s heart to be hardened against him. I hope that these people’s actions does not cause that to happen.😦

Clearly these people are hardening their hearts, but they are not as they think damning themselves to Hell by this action alone. It is a sin, but it is not unforgivable. Basically it is impossible to blaspheme the Holy Spirit if you don’t believe in him because your ignorant. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is basically the criteria on which we are judged as a whole, to rebel against what we know is true with full conscience and to exalt ourselves as God. It is based on what is in your soul, it’s final eternal decision. Yes, whether you die in Mortal Sin or not will determine your fate, but this is not up to chance, it is guided by God’s providence, and no one who would ever repent will be damned. Basically this is why those who are damned to Hell will actually want to go there, they will not be repentent even in Hell, and they will understand that justice demands Hell and that God has been completely fair with them.

I just pray that anyone who actually takes part in this realizes that they can be forgiven and accpeted by God and not feel as if they have permanently doomed themselves if they later realize the truth that God does exist. Also I think we should realize that some of this type of behavior has it’s roots in the non-Christian behavior of Christian’s influencing people’s opinion of Christianity.

I am on your side, you are preaching to the choir, so please do not misunderstand what I am about to say :gopray2: It wil not make any difference 😦

It’s a sad thing there are not really enough of us to really pressure them into anything.

Their time will come. They will have to answer.

I’ll second this!

I agree wholeheartedly with your points, especially about hell. It’s a shame that it seems many people don’t think of it that way but are quick to judge and condemn others without knowing what’s in the sinners’ hearts. That kind of attitude can also turn people off to Christianity or belief.

Another prayer that comes to mind for the people doing the challenge is the one the angel taught the children seers of Fatima, “My God, I believe, I adore, I hope in, and I love thee. I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope in or love thee.”

I was wondering too, what denomination if any actually teaches that if you say aloud “I deny the Holy Spirit” that your sin is unforgivable and you are eternally damned? They claim only “liberal” Christians disagree with this but I know of no Christians who actually believe this. I read their FAQ where they talk about Christians trying to back pedal on this and how it is damaging to our ability to “recruit” but I know of no time where such a teaching was taught that ever needed to be back pedaled on. Sounds like these guys are interpreting the Bible however they want for their own agenda. In their FAQ they also state “The Rational Response Squad encourages people to inquire, argue, reason and doubt – not to believe something because they are told to.” but with this challenge they are doing no such thing, they are simply encouraging people to reject Christianity and promising that they will feel much better if they do. They are clearly actively hostile toward Christianity and have a dogmatic conclusion it is false, however how ignorant and downright offensive to claim that Christianity is believed simply because we are told to believe it and that challenging it will lead to their way of thinking and publicly talking about it will lead to it’s dissapearance. Typical non-sense that smart people are atheists and those who have faith are blind sheep. An atheist thinks he is superior to a believer and we have seen the results of hard-core atheists attaining power in Histoy.

Can someone explain to me the point behind this group? I do not believe in an All Mighty Zeus so I see no reason to stand on a mountain and dare him to hit me with thunderbolt. I would feel silly doing so. I don’t see a need to prove what I don’t believe.

Why would a nonChristian, who truely disbelieves, care what the reaction of God would be?

And even if somehow they were damned, they would not know until they died.

Although this is offensive, it is pretty silly and childish also.
