The Blessed Virgin said women shouldn't wear pants?

Even though wearing pants is permitted, it is better to wear skirts and dresses (modestly, of course). Men act more like gentlemen in the presence of a “dressed” (a modest dress) woman. I myself have experienced this from bikers, “punks,” gang members…Women set the standards, and when we conform (the wrong way) society goes downhill. It’s a hard change to make, but I believe God blesses us for it. It also adds to the femininity of the woman; she feels more like a woman and will therefore act more like a woman.

😉 Hi Catherine and Everyone

Thank you for welcoming me aboard.

I have some interesting subjects to talk about like women wearing Pants. I have been reading on the Catholic WEB site where Our Blessed Mother said women should not wear pants because it displeases our Devine Lord and it causes men to have temptations.

Just thought I would put it out there and see what people thought.

God Bless You All

Why would pants be per se a source of temptation?

Wouldn’t it all depend upon the style and cut and (most importantly) the eye of the beholder? There are probably some men who would be tempted by a woman in a paper bag. I don’t see where that would be her (or the bag’s) fault.

A short skirt or an unlined dress can be far more revealing than a regular pair of pants (or trousers for our overseas readers).

From a purely practical point of view tight trousers are difficult to get in and out of (no pun intended) wouldn’t a dress be just that much more tempting?

I disagree. Women are more likely to be violated in a skirt because of the “easy access.” Take the pervert who looks up women’s skirts from underneath the subway platform in New York. And how often do creeps get arrested for using mirrors or camera phones to peek up a woman’s skirt?

And as much as gentleman might open doors for me and carry things for me when I wear a skirt, it isn’t worth it when I see the gawking and nudging in my peripheral vision. I think observation makes it obvious that skirts incite men to lust way more than slacks do.

The bottom line is that the Blessed Mother never said such a thing. Case dismissed…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I haven’t heard of any such thing.

However, this whole conversation reminds me of an outdated/old law that is still in the official law books here in Tucson, Az where it is illegal for any woman to wear pants in Tucson.

Crazy!!!

How many apparitions do you know of where the Blessed Virgin appears in a pair of pants?

Not crazy, just respectful of femininity.

The key word in your statement is “pervert” and “creeps.” I’m not referring to “men” like that, who are likely to try something anyway. I’m referring to the average man, and even the “bad” man. Wearing pants isn’t going to stop a perv.

A link would be nice.

Let’s try the reverse - what group dresses with approximation to how May appears in visions? Women in India (primarily, Hindus), and Islamic women.

So what is your point?

It is very seriously wrong for women to wear pants. This is because, according to Father Kunkel: “they have been proven to be men’s attire, and harmfull for women and society at large, and against God’s command in Deut. 22:5.”
Please see:

I wouldn’t trust a site that has publications about:
Since you don’t trust the Catholic priest Father Kunkel and what he says on the Catholic site:
lffa-ollmpc.com/standards.htm
you can get similar information from a Protestant site:
"Go to your local mall and watch the teenaged girls dressing and carrying themselves like gangster boys! Baggy jeans, t-shirts, short messy hair, pierced body parts! When we smudge the clear lines of the differences in the sexes, this is where we end up! Open a magazine that has women’s business-wear in it. You’ll see slightly feminized men’s business suits. Even the shoes look like men’s! If it’s a business suit with a skirt, then the skirt is short and sexy and the rest looks manly! We have a wonderful medley of masculinity AND immodesty all packaged nicely for today´s modern career woman! “

Either way, it amounts to the same thing that it is seriously wrong for a woman to wear pants.

“very seriously wrong”. That means it’s a mortal sin?

Well, I don’t know who Father Kunkel is, but I would say he’s wrong!

That may be his (and your) opinion, but it is not seriously wrong. When the Vatican comes out with such a statement, I will stop wearing
pants and not before.

True! Unless it becomes a dogma that my decent, non-formfitting pants are sinful, I’ll continue to wear them. It’s an opinion which all of us are entitled to, not a matter of faith.

This is from Bishop Richard Williamson:
"Again, something is going profoundly wrong when men in large numbers turn from women to men, and women from men to women. Might not women wearing trousers be contributing to this blurring and confusion of the sexes? In any case this upheaval, this earthquake in the realm of morals, is the correct back-drop against which to view the arguments for women’s trousers, only this time the appeal will be to the men.

“Men, let us suppose that your womenfolk need to go skiing, sailing, mountaineering, Operation Rescuing, engineering, home repairing, parachuting, etc., etc., and that for these activities they absolutely – or for modesty – require trousers. Nevertheless, if with trousers they gain the activity but lose their femininity, is not the price too great? Today, you want to go mountaineering. Tomorrow, she wants to go with you. The day after she loses her womanliness. The day after that, your son turns to his own kind. Obviously, that is to fast forward the process involved, but the fact remains that when women are allowed, encouraged or pushed into activities in any way diminishing their womanliness or their modesty, they are being betrayed.”

Thank you. That was the funniest thing I have read all day!

The headline should be “Bishop Williamson says, ‘Women who wear pants make their sons gay!’”

Bishop Williamson is a real hoot…makes me wonder if he has a tin-foil lined mitre so the aliens and the Vatican can’t spy on his brain waves!
