Shall we make an observation about God’s justice, who never “revealed” the requirements, but nevertheless holds us fully responsible?
The Church teaches that our ultimate authority is our conscience. Do you find that unjust?

No, I would not. But I have doubts that this is what the Church teaches. I think that there are some additions about the “properly formed conscience”.

For example, I reject the Church’s teachings upon the allowable sexual behavior (only permissible between a married man and his wife, when the act does not attempt to prevent conception). My conscience tells me that this teaching is nonsense. I wonder if this would be called an “improperly formed conscience”.

If only our conscience would count, it would be rather interesting. In such a case a mass-murderer and a rapist would be “off the hook”, everyone who would take the Lord’s name in vain would not be held responsible. In other words, the whole teaching of the Catholic Church (along with the ten commandments) would be rendered null and void. As I said, I have some doubts that the Catholic Church would cut its own throat (figuratively speaking, of course) by officially teaching this.

It is not improperly formed if you have considered the question carefully and your view is consistent with your beliefs about the value and purpose of marriage.

You are contradicting yourself! You objected to the need for clarification of a “properly formed conscience” and now you state that “only our conscience” is an inadequate criterion. 🙂

No, I was only questioning your assertion that the Catholic Church officially teaches what you said. That is all. Don’t read something into my words which is not there.

Then the onus is on you to justify your doubt…
