I’m not quite sure what angle you are taking with your question. This being a free society, a book like “The Secret” has every right to be published and distributed. The instant we start saying what books can and cannot be published we go down a very dangerous path (banned books, book burnings, etc.).
That being said, we don’t have to buy “The Secret” and there isn’t anything stopping us from educating others on how dangerous books like this one are and New Age philosophy is in general. Personally, I don’t think “The Secret” is the cause of problems, but rather a symptom of the problems of society. I think we all have an inherent need for religion in our lives, but “progressive” society is very anti-religion, particularly towards Christianity. To fill that void, people substitute real religion with this feel good mumbo jumbo that centers around the individual, not God.
So when people ask if I’ve read “The Secret” I reply that I read a much earlier, and better, edition called the Bible. In an ideal world, we would be so effective at getting the word out that people would just laugh at any new age book or video. We’re not there yet (obviously) so we just have to keep educating and praying.
