Since the book of Wisdom in the old testament is really about Wisdom and/ or knowledge, and I still like reading the Douay Rheims Bible, would you say that the book of Wisdom is really like a class in Philosophy or not. I would think it would be. Could you explain why it would or would not be? Thank you.

The Book of Wisdom does not articulate the distinctions between philosophical systems or theories like a class in philosophy would.

The Book of Wisdom is classified as deuterocanonical or “secondary canon”.

It is not to be imagined that therefore they are somehow “inferior” to the protocanonical books of the Bible. They are the inspired Word of God, every bit as much as the rest of the Bible.

The Book of Wisdom is curious in that it plainly speaks of the afterlife which was denied by the Sadducees. So apparently THEY would not have considered the book of Wisdom to be inspired, whereas the Pharisees DID believe in the afterlife, so they would have considered the book of Wisdom inspired. Of course, there was no “official” canon in 2nd Temple Judaism. Later, in the Christian era, the Jews struck the book of Wisdom off of their “canon,” which is the lame excuse Protestants use to deny the inspired Word of God in the book of Wisdom in their own Bibles.
