How does the “profound mystery” of the “one flesh” union of husband and wife refer to Christ and the Church?

Where does the Church, Christ’s Bride, become “one flesh” with him?

Thoughts anyone?
 
At the celebration of the Mass. That is why the Mass often is referred to as the marriage supper for the Lamb.

The nuptials began at the Cross with the flow of blood and water that brings life to the Bride through the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist.
 
Philthy (you can’t be any moreso than I am!) -

I would add a couple of things. First, as Paul wrote in one of his letters, “Christ is the head and we, the church, are His body” and in Christ’s own words about His oneness with the Father (‘that they may be one as You, Father, and I are one, I in them and them in me’ (or words to that effect) .

Second, in the Eucharist we become literally ‘one with Christ’ as He is present in us in much the same way He was one with Mary during her pregnancy. The Eucharistic celebration is also similar to the ‘conjugal act’ of marriage.

And third, in that as Creator of all things, the Father made us (and all of creation) through His Son, the physical manifestation of His glory.

That is how it seems to me.

Ok, good so far.

Just a couple of issues:

The “one flesh” union of man and woman refers to the marital embrace, correct? Is there a true symbolism of that union in the Sacrifice of the Mass or is it more conceptual? I have also heard(Christopher West, Naked without Shame) that the marital embrace is representative of the union of the Trinity. How would that fit into this?
 
just as the total self-giving in marriage brings forth new life, the total self-giving of Jesus Christ of Himself to us, and us to Him brings forth new life, eternal life.
