which part did you have trouble understanding…that the Church is the Bride of Christ?
This is what Joysong wrote in her original post…

In another thread it was seemingly unknown that the Church is the Bride of Christ, and thought that only charismatics believed this.
But the actual question was whether the Holy Spirit was the Spouse of the Church. Look here.

The Church is not on trial here, and there is never a good reason, IMO, to air her weaknesses publicly to put Her in a bad light. This is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit,
and nobody speaks evil of their bride… never! *

*So do you call Mary the Bride of Christ?

The only people I have heard call the church “The Spouse of the Holy Spirit” are the Charismatics.*
I asked, "Don’t we call the church “The Bride of Christ”? and gave a reference. The question about Mary being the Bride of Christ came in the middle, as more of a question about the Holy Spirit than Our Holy Mother or the church.

So the question is, unlike the title of this thread, is the church “The Spouse of the Holy Spirit”?

ya, I couldn’t understand it when I first heard it. I was like huh? How can the Church be a Bride or how can Christ have a Bride OR why do we refer to the Church as a female?

When I read the initial post—I noticed that the topic had been turned around—from what had been brought up in the other thread.

I don’t know if this makes a difference or not to what you guys are talking about but I remember when I was converting I had never heard the phrase “Bride of Christ” until I went online and spent a few years with Traditionlists. My RCIA class really didn’t get into this unless I missed that night, not sure. But I’m sure your not surprised I don’t think RCIA classes are all that great. I learned more from the other board I used to be one several years ago.

I was on that thread! I realized when I saw this one right away what was happening!

NO ONE on that other thread questioned or did not know that the Church was the Bride of Christ!:tsktsk:

Not one poster!

At least someone on this thread is getting information they need on that- but the sad thing is that the OP seems to think that there was a need for this thread and the fact is if it were posted out of pure intentions that would be nice and acceptable. But as we read here, and as I witnessed yesterday- this thread was started to continue sniping and demeaning another poster who has easily been able to defend herself from this childish and false innuendo made.
Joysong, anyone with a rational mind can read the posts you have made yesterday and today and see what is happening here.

Get off your high horse casting judgement and pulling pranks here on the forum for your own personal self gratification. You make your order shamed by these shennanigans of yours.

I did not hear it in RCIA either. Maybe if I were in a parish that was a bit more meat and potatoes and less toppings I would have gotten that info.

Maybe not. We are expected to use our brains and know our faith the best we can. I like books too, they do help, as helpful the forums can be. Dont knock this fourm though, because I dont think you are correct that another forum has more info than this one. Certainly after the crash lots was lost, but this forum is likely the best of them all.

Oh wow, this isn’t very nice and I believed considered a personal attack. I don’t think you know for sure what her motivations are. :tsktsk: so why not assume goodwill and just talk about what was posted. My goodness.

HUH??? when did I knock this forum? I only said another forum because durning my conversion I didn’t even know about this Catholic Answers, sheesh! I have NO problems with this forum. 😦

Edit: NO did I EVER say the other forum had more information. You really needed to read my post more carefully.

No, I agree its NOT nice if you read all the posts that led up to this.
Sorry, but are you going to deny this? Go ahead. I saw the posts yesterday, they are posted here today and you dont have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out. On top of the fact that the OP alleges that this was posted because someone here had not heard of this term before.

I ask for proof of this someone who does not exist.

How can you learn more from another board if it does not have More information? Osmosis?

We are not suppose to bring other issues we have with posters into a new thread my friend so you might want to take that advice and use it. If you have a problem or question her motivation then why not just PM her? Why is it so important to trash someone you don’t even know in public?

I had never heard the term before when I was going through RCIA class so I think it’s valid.

I think we need to stick with the topic.

There is many RICA classes that are not taught very well and mine was one of them. As I said I did learn more from Catholic forums and books then I ever did in class.

Sometimes history comes in and therefore a poster may see a motivation in another that we do not see.

You and I have gone back and forth but I don’t think either one of us specifically look for the other’s post to say something. That has truly happened with posters in the past, is against forum rules and gets a person tossed if repeated too often.

Go back to the Latin Mass/Norvus Ordo thread, page 5, post 214. The question was answered by the poster herself. She exchanged the Holy Spirit for Christ. No one’s opinion overrides actual Vatican documents. If she is correct, hey then I’m wrong and I’ll admit it, but a citation is warranted.

Some posts may look extremely sweet. But the history behind that post is very dark.
And trust me, when more than a few CAF people feel they are being belittled by a poster, yes, you will see others coming to their defense.

I hope it get warmer for you out there. 🙂

Once again, prior to having notices sent out regarding forum access, may I ask all of your assistance in seeking to remove from your posts continued sniping or negative references to one another.

Thank you for your implementation and cooperation.**
