It is no accident that many diocesan liturgists have since been found to be serious dissenters and an unusual percentage to be practicing homosexuals. The liturgy has power to form or to deform, to inspire or to corrupt.

**I think it’s wonderful that people have homosexuals to blame things wrong in the church upon.

Whatever would we do without them?**

Don’t see where the blame is being put on homosexuals. It is the breakdown that has happened within the Church – that has opened the door to dissenters and practicing homosexuals to gain positions of influence.

Good article. The laundry list of abuses and problems is real and entrenched. I don’t see anything ever changing though. 😦

There is no real accountability. The USCCB is not a Magisterial force (as the Bishop alone already is) It is in fact a wonderful committee of middle managers doing whatever the currents and trends seem to dictate, while simultaneously granting them anonymity and minimal responsibility.

It would be far better, IMHO, if there was a Primate for the US church ordained by the Pope who would have the authority to ordain Metropolitans himself. That would establish a direct chain of command.

Right now US archbishops and cardinals use their own raw influence rather than any real ecclesiastical power to reach other bishops beyond their own diocese. They can duke it out in the USCCB of course, but that has become just an ecclesiastical version of Congress which is split along party lines with a balance of powers preventing any reform measures to themselves, or the US church.
