I need to obtain one of these with a blessing. Any suggestions where I should shop? (preferebly online).

I buy all kinds of things youd never find. Great Books and I bought lots of scapulars. They are a wonderful couple and they offer things, as youll see, at very discounted prices, because they make no profit doing this. God Bless.

World Apostolate of Fatima, Box 976, Washington, New Jersey 07882-0976.

You can also contact The International Fatima Rosary Crusade, Fatima Center, Route 30, Box 281, Constable, New York 12926.

Good luck.

You will probably need to get it blessed after you receive it. It cannot be blessed before sale. Any priest can bless it for you.

I heard that it cannot be blessed for the purpose of sale (simony) but is it true that an item can be sold that was blessed insofar as the cost was only the actual price of it being product?

This is correct. A blessed item may be sold, but not for more than the value of that object in an unblessed condition. Else anyone who has ever had their house blessed would never be permitted to sell it.

A brown scapular usually isn’t given a normal blessing,
It’s done through it’s rite of investiture. If you’ve been given
a brown Scapular through the rite before, it’s not needed to be blessed. Generally, one needs a scapular before investiture can take place, as it’s placed over your head within the rite, it’s not a simple matter of buying one already blessed.

I say “Rite of Investiture”, but all is needed is for a priest to say say some marian devotional prayer while putting it on you.
There is a longer official rite, so if you want it I’ll post it.

Oh, make sure the scapular you get is wool 👍

Please do, or maybe provide a link. Thanks.
Here’s a Short form:

Receive this Scapular, a sign of your special relationship with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, whom you pledge to imitate. May it be a reminder to you of your dignity as a Christian in serving others and imitating Mary. Wear it as a sign of her protection and of belonging to the family of Carmel, voluntarily doing the will of God and devoting yourself to building a world true to his plan of community, justice and peace.

Here’s a longer form that I have:

Priest - Show us, O Lord, Thy mercy.
Respondent - And grant us Thy salvation.
P - Lord, hear my prayer.
R - And let my cry come unto Thee.
P - The Lord be with you.
R - And with your spirit.
P - Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, sancfify by Thy power these scapulars, which for love of Thee and for love of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Thy servants will wear devoutly, so that through the intercession of the same Virgin Mary, Mother of God, and protect against the evil spirit, they persevere until death in Thy grace. Thou who liveth and reigneth world without end. Amen.

The Priest does the Aspersion and Invests Person(s) While Saying:

Receive this blessed Scapular and ask the Most Holy Virgin that by Her merits, it may be worn with no stain of sin, protect you from all harm and bring you to everlasting life. Amen.

After the Investiture the Priest Continues With the Prayers:

I, by the power vested in me, admit you to participate in all the spiritual benefits obtained through the mercy of Jesus Christ by the Religious Order of Mount Carmel.
In the name of the Father+and of the Son+and of the Holy Ghost+. Amen. May God Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and earth, bless you, He who has deigned to join you to the confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel; we beseech Her to crush the head of the ancient serpent so that you may enter into possession of your eternal heritage through Christ our Lord.
R - Amen.

Oh, and when I was looking up the brown scapular to make sure my info was correct, I found this form:

miraclerosarymission.org/scapular2.html

That one is very long, and has many forms, pretty cool.

Bookmarked. Thanks for the quick response.
One thing, in the investiture, you are blessed, not the the Scapular per se. When the Scapular wears out, which if you wear them all the time, does happen, usually in less than a year, you don’t need to go through the investiture again. Just buy yourself a new Scapular and you are good to go.👍

Of course you must keep in mind and adhere to the other requirements of the Scapular investiture. Also, many people after wearing the initial Scapular, change to a medal either worn around the neck or pinned to the clothing. While that is technically OK, I think personally it defeats the purpose of wearing the Scapular in the first place.

I’ve worn one for years and will for the rest of my life, I would feel naked without it.

Rose Scapular Company.

They are all made of brown wool and imho they are the best. I’ve been wearing one of their scapulars day and night for over 2 years and it still looks like new.

I have to try them, mine seldom last longer than a year but I am pretty rough on them. Thanks for the link:thumbsup:

The cost of the scapular is basically for the materials, the folk who make them do so out of love for the sacremental and all it infers…buy a dozen keep a couple for yourself and give the others to friends and family… ideally you wear them ALL the time, I take mine of to shower but that is all so they deteriorate… I often hook mine onto an undergarment so as not to have it ride up in a choke hold across my neck, and the inevitable "why do you have a shoelace on your neck…’ questions:)
