Not sure how to interpret this post. Are you saying we should not love the Theotokos? Could you please clarify?

No. I like to believe that I’d be one of those who would defend her with my life if need be! Frankly, I’m puzzled as to why there are so many threads over the years questioning why the Church reveres the Mother of God! As if she’s not deserving of this recognition!

Why would anyone want to diss the Holy Mother of God?
A good question! I just know that over the years here I’ve encountered quite a bit of it. I remember over on the old CAF there was a certain poster who would routinely show animus towards the BVM. And many would routinely show up to defend her. I remember once he quipped; “I should’ve known it wouldn’t be long before the Blue Army would show up!!!”

Many of us who defend her truly consider her our Mother. I know when my own mother died, I asked if Mary would please be my adopted mother now, because I remembered St. Catherine Laboure doing that when her mother died. I also asked if St. Joseph would be my adopted dad because my own father died a long time ago.

So if somebody insults Mary (or Joseph, although he doesn’t seem to come in for much dissing and is largely ignored), then to me it really is like one of my parents got dissed. I have to count ten to keep from really going off on the person.

Ha ha ha!!! That was me on the old CAF! When Mary was attacked, I quite simply lost it! I lost count of all of the venomous responses I replied with! 😉 Thankfully, and I believe it’s through her intercession no less, I’ve learned to temper my responses.

Imagine someone asks me to do a favor for a child, and I brush it off. The petitioner might appeal to me as a mother, or as a resident of the same town, or as a relative.

In the same way, we can petition Mary under one or another or more of her aspects. No ulterior motives needed 🙂

Lemme take a look at specific titles

Queen of Angels - How can a human be the queen of the angels?

Queen of Heaven - If you’re already the queen of the angels, this seems redundant (though I recognise this title is probably prior to the other)

Queen of Virgins - What does this even mean? Someone for virgins specifically to pray to or someone who is a queen and also a virgin?

Because God elevated Mary to be His mother, she shares in His Kingship like Bathsheba did with Solomon.

When will we have enough titles for Mary?
When we run out of words! But then we’ll have to invent new words. More beautiful words. And still there will not be enough words to praise the Blessed Virgin.

Because God said so.
Queen of Heaven - If you’re already the queen of the angels, this seems redundant (though I recognise this title is probably prior to the other)
There are also human souls in Heaven, not just angels, and she is queen over the human souls in heaven too. And who knows what else God might have in His heaven?
Queen of Virgins - What does this even mean? Someone for virgins specifically to pray to or someone who is a queen and also a virgin?
Both

The hidden motives I was referring to are motives of financial profit. Yeah the officials at Fatima were very hostile towards the three children and their story until the pilgrims started to being business to the local area – same thing over and over – more medals and scapulars, more statues, more shrines, more pilgrimages…more “messages.”

The CCC doesn’t tell me how many statues of Mary I need.

Half of her titles don’t have a trend of being sold. There are enough saints to use so it is not like there is a need to make some up for her.

Some people are indeed motivated by money. maybe God uses that for evangelizing purposes. Wouldn’t that be ironic 🙂

You don’t need to visit Fatima or any other apparition site or buy anything in order to be devoted to Mary.

The fact that we venerate Mary under many titles doesn’t mean I need to buy a statue of her under every title, or have a medal of her under every title.

And as Vanitas said, most of her titles, such as most of the ones in her Litany, don’t appear on statues or medals.

The only money motivation I see is that the locations where apparitions are approved do sometimes (not always) gain in tourism, and when an area is economically depressed and needs money, this can be attractive. There are conferences and articles on how to properly promote pilgrimage tourism in your area, I’ve seen such things. But as Annie said, God is capable of using that for evangelizing purposes.
