Chesterton and Lewis were a generation apart, and I don’t think they ever actually met or anything like that. All of Lewis’ work was based on 1 line in a Chesterton book, so the tale goes. Try to find which one. But yes, Kreeft=super excellent. I noticed he’s one Catholic Apologist type that protestants use sometimes. WEIRD!! Woah!

I’ve not read that one yet (my reading list is quite long). I would recommend Orthodoxy by G.K. Chesterton. I
👍 On my lifetime short list of really great books are Chesterton’s Orthodoxy and his Everlasting Man. I wouldn’t even try to categorize them, much less put them on a list with Stroble. Because they are classics, one can read them over and over and never tire of them.

Plus Orthodoxy is funny. Of course Chesterton is funny.

If, as I mentioned, Stroble and Kreeft are miles apart, Chesterton is on another planet entirely. We are SO blessed to have him!.

The book did the job. It was superficial in some areas, but the mere fact that it presented a mostly coherent argument that faith in Jesus is not for fools is refreshing in a world that doesn’t seem to want Him.

I never noticed any anti-Catholic statements, and in fact one of his books (can’t remember which one) interviews a Catholic expert on one aspect of his argument.

Since I have Protestants to thank for coming home to the Church, I can’t say anything bad about it myself!

Me neither… in fact I have some Protestants to thank for opening me up to the Catholic Church when I had kind of excluded it as a possibility (A Lutheran military chaplain and C. S. Lewis, to be specific.) Why those guys are not Catholic will always puzzle me, though…

Ok, off the top of my head (and forgive me if the wording is off):

“I did try to found a heresy of my own, and when I had put the finishing touches on it, I discovered it was orthodoxy.”

That one?
