Today’s 11 AM was the one with the First Scrutiny of The Elect (former Catecumans). Us Candidates and our Sponsers were to remain in the pews and provide moral support for The Elect and their Sponsers who went out in front of everybody.

I would have been thrilled if the dialog had been like this…

RCIA Instructor: Some of the Elect have no sponsers
Me: Woman, what is your concern to me? My time has not yet come:rolleyes:
My Sponser: Do whatever she tells you!

Nope, it went like this:

RCIA Instructor: Some of the sponsers for the elect didn’t show up. Can you help out?
Me: OK:o
My Sponser: (nods head)

So there I was in front of the whole congregation, with this small boy I had never seen before kneeling in front of me, and my right hand on his right shoulder. My sponser was in front of a kneeling girl, with her right hand on the girl’s right shoulder.

Of course other Candidates and sponsers helped out, and things went so smoothly that most of the congregation had no idea how close to a SNAFU we had been. :eek:

All’s well that end’s well. Next stop, be at Los Angeles Cathedral at 6 PM for whatever it is us Candidates have to go through. With Cardinal Mahoney, no less:D
 
come on, Harry, sober up, you are having too much fun with this, it IS lent, after all. Just like we keep telling yuse, yuse candidates are also there as co-sponsors for the catechumens and elect, you did good, man.

Sorry, but this is one of those times and places where AA trumps Lent. “We alcoholics are not a glum lot, we absolutely insist on enjoying sobriety!”
 
so what color kilt for confirmation? red? family plaid? at least red stockings?

Clan Cameron. Bright red background, four broad green stripes, one narrow yellow stripe. This kilt is pleated to the line. I prefer white knee-high hose
