The cat in the manger

I’ve read that story elsewhere (but not told so fully). Of course, all cats have an “M” on their forehead–it’s the line of their muscles between their eyes, but it is most clearly seen on tabbies. Sweet story, though, isn’t it? 🙂

That’s so cool.

My neighbour has a donkey. This kind of donkey has a large dark cross on it’s back and shoulders. My nieghbour says it was the kind of donkey that carried Mary in the flight to Egypt, and the donkey that Christ rode into Jerusalem… lovely little legends.
 
Interesting. Cats are not mentioned in sacred Scripture. You could look it up.

Two reasons I can think of…
  1. Cats were domesticated in Egypt. The Jews probably did not venerate cats the way the Egyptians did.
  2. I’m sure the Jews had cats, for pest control. But not as beloved pets.
 
That story, trimmed down a bit, would make a great Christmas card for those potty (like me) about cats. :hmmm: Maybe it’ll be our Christmas card next year… or this year, that is if I find the time to do it. 🤷

Awwww, that is a sweet story! I thought my kitties had that “M” on their foreheads because they were U. of Michigan football fans – they know their Mama roots for Notre Dame! 😉

Perhaps the M is for Madame de Notre Dame? Could be! 😃
 
When I heard that story, the cat gave birth to kittens as Mary gave birth to Christ, and then the cat purred them all to sleep that night.

I’ve wanted a cat nursing kittens for my nativity scene ever since.
